The Republican Party is united by hatred

Not economic class, not religious beliefs, not shared values, not shared goals, and not shared interests.

The Republican Party is united by hatred-for the Democratic Party, for liberals and progressives, for gay people and single women and Latinos and black Americans and non-Christian religions and liberal Christians and moderate Christians and secular, agnostic, and atheist Americans.

There is nothing intellectually coherent, nor socially empathetic about what the Republican Party stands for these days. Bias, fear, anger, prejudice, and most of all, hatred is what makes their "coalition" of fundamentalist right-wing Christians (of many different theological backgrounds, actually), big businessmen, some cranky old retirees, corporate management types, Wall Street raiders, and right-wing authoritarians of all shapes and sizes have any sense of coherence or clarity.

Hatred is the way in which they turn out "the base." Hatred is the key to Tea Party primary victories. Hatred is the reason why evangelical right-wing Protestants can vote for a ticket with a Mormon and a Catholic on it.

So let's not compromise with these people anymore. They have proven themselves completely unwilling to negotiate in good faith, or negotiate at all. They won't stand up to Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter or Glenn Beck or whichever asshole with a microphone and a talk show that stokes their hatred bone the most.

Let's move forward with America, rather than moving backward for the sake of hateful people.

They make all their decisions based on hate. Sad.

where they conveniently never acknowledge the parts of the Bible where it discusses caring for the poor and not bearing false witness.

Except for the drawing of the hard line of no-comprimise.

That's a sure sign of eventual defeat.

Doesn't mean we can't adamantly defend our values though.

But to start off by saying "no compromise?"

What are we...the Tea Baggers?

hate expressed gives people a shot of adrenalin besides the gratification of feeling superior to others.
I believe they become addicted to the adrenalin and seek out others of their ilk, media and other folks, to get another adrenalin boost.
The RW has come up with an effective organizing strategy for the bored.

Hatred never united any group, all it can do is lead to disunity, internal fighting, and ultimately the dissolution of whatever group is overwhelmed by it.

who believe that PBO is the reason why the country is divided in the first place?

I'd like to see the Left being able to compromise with each other, first and foremost. And the various factions on DU as well

You're talking about people who already vote against their own best interest.

The only way to really appeal to these people is to use the same tactics that Republicans use which is almost entirely based on demagoguery. Of course if you do this then you become just as bad as they are which is not exactly an attractive proposition.

After America discovered its social conscience in the 60's, the GOP has been united by hate, fear, and bigotry toward the new awakening of human consciousness. They are on the wrong side of history and are losing continuously, but boy are they determined to go down with a fight.
