The KOCH BROTHERS Turn On Chris Christie and WARN HIM About Setting Up Obamacare

Most people understand that public servants, especially politicians, serve the people and part of their service includes following the law according to their oath of office, but Republicans reject the law when it contradicts ultra-conservative think tanks funded by wealthy industrialists Charles and David Koch. The Constitution is clear on how legislation becomes the law of the land, and one expects elected officials to reject special interest groups demands when they oppose established law, but over the past four years Republicans have demonstrated their disdain for the Constitution when neo-conservative think tanks have a different agenda.

The Affordable Care Act was hotly contested after it passed both houses of Congress and President Obama’s signature making it a legitimate law, and after it was upheld in the Supreme Court, one thought Republicans would finally accept that it cleared every legal challenge and begin implementing provisions at the state level to help 20-30 million Americans get access to affordable health care. One of the mainstays of Willard Romney’s campaign was his promise to repeal the ACA on his first day in office that not only displayed his ignorance of the repeal process, but also his lack of concern that millions of Americans would once again be at the mercy of the predatory health insurance industry and suffer from lack of healthcare. However, Romney’s defeat was not the end of the battle over the ACA and, as expected, Republican governors are doing the bidding of the Koch Brothers to frustrate the health law’s implementation.

The Koch Brothers think-tank, Americans for Prosperity, handed down a warning to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for not rejecting provisions in the ACA to submit health insurance exchange plans ahead of the health law’s full implementation. Republicans were already furious with Christie for praising President Obama’s rapid response to the super-storm Sandy that ravaged parts of the East Coast last week, and now the Koch Brothers are pressuring him to reject a New Jersey exchange bill to rebuff the ACA’s requirement before a November 16 cutoff date for states to set up health insurance exchanges. If states fail to set up the exchanges, the federal government does it for them and the provision gave individual states leeway to set up a healthcare marketplace according to their resident’s needs.

The New Jersey chapter of Americans for Prosperity sent out a press release Thursday questioning Governor Christie’s obedience to the Koch Brothers and encouraged him to accept the “burden on the states to thwart” the ACA because after Republicans lost the election, “Congress will not be able to repeal the law.” The press release cited “other conservative governors across the country like Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, Scott Walker, and others have already taken a principled stand,” and questioned whether Christie “will prevent New Jerseyans from having their health care choices controlled by federal bureaucrats? Or will he continue to go along to get along with Barack Obama?” Now, the issue is not whether Christie is going along with the President, but rather, will he be vindictive and take away the state’s right to set up their own exchanges or leave it to the federal government. Either way, the health law will be implemented.

This isn't between Democrat v Republican, Race v Race, Left v Rightwing. This war is about We the People v Corporate Elitists. The sooner we understand this basic truth, the quicker we can unite against America's TRUE enemy and defeat them.

37. So can you post a Wishadoo while Don waits for an answer? I think the Admins are up to their necks..

With whatever is happening on the East Coast right now and their own families, maybe. And they are still having to adjust Levels for high traffic, even though the election for POTUS is over, there are a lot of uncounted votes and a few races that need to be settled. I think they let the heart system go away and don't want to install it.

This more direct request for action started from the obvious threads about Hurricane Sandy relief and a member who needed power, etc. No work for some to pay their bills and keep things going. Also I guess you saw the thread about a member whose family member is in dire straits, very ill, possibly dying now. So, would it be out of place to start a thread now?

These have just worked so well in the past. I'm sure that we'll keep it kicked, or I will if I know where it is. See you later.

7. Christy already blocked the early implementation of the exchange passed by out state senate.

It was assumed he did so in case Romney won. He then would have joined Jindal and Walker in stopping middle class working Americans from buying decent health insurance for a competitive price.

Christie is a first class, vulgar jackass but I hope he isn't stupid to boot. If he doesn't start giving Obama Care to NJ he will be out of a job next year.

but they can't. They do so at the cost to their own constituents. I think in general its smarter to set up your states own health care exchanges than to let the Federal Government do it for you.

With Obama in office, and the media sniffing the Teahadists again, 2014 will be the referendum on the ACA finally forcing the issue in the states.

Right now, most GOP governors are refusing to accept the increase in Medicaid. Democratic governors embrace it. That's where we're at on the ground.

Who the hell elected these billionaire bandits? The Kochroaches have absolutely no right to blackmail any elected official and intimidate them from implementing a new law.

If I were Christie, I'd make the Koch Bros. unwelcome in Jersey and if I were the President, I'd sign an EO ordering the arrest of both Charles and David Koch, along with an order freezing their assets so they can't use their wealth to escape criminal convictions.

Last edited Sun Nov 11, 2012, 05:59 PM - Edit history (1)

I argued with JBSers in school, who hated all the Kennedys, but JFK in particular. They were quite rabid and now we see, completely deluded.

RFK, Jr. has mentioned their influence in the death of uncle, JFK. The Koches have only come out from behind the secrecy they had for years in 2012.

They are emboldened by their two creations, the Libertarian Party and the Tea Party, and for all we know may come out directly with the Koch Party. I've argued with conservatives who believe that these fascists are the saviors of America.

The brothers hold real power in the material sense and squeezing communities by dividing those who believe in good governance and inclusion away from those who believe the government needs to go away, but into their own pockets.

49. You definitely have defined the Koch brothers in a nutshell.

They couldn't buy us, now they are using threats. This is the animal of corporate wealth on the verge of control or destruction.

If anyone wants to take a crack at how to deal with them or to predict their next moves, look into the methods a CEO/owner deals with competition. Look specifically at the Koch brother's corporate history and ask, "how did they get where they are?" "What has been their corporate strategy over the years?" The answer to those questions should give a good indication of what to expect next. Maybe it will help find their Achilles heel.

12. Chris Christie Defeated AFP NJ's Steve Lonegan In The NJ GOP Gubernatorial Primary.

NJ reelected President Obama.

The majority of the voters support the ACA in the state, 6 in 10.
http://www.politickernj.com/60294/new-jerseyans-support-affordable-care-act-poll-says

Steve Lonegan's motives might just be a little self-serving.

This might be a set-up to weaken Christie's reelection chances next year. If Christie supports the ACA, Lonegan might run against him in the GOP Gubernatorial Primaries (though he would surely lose again in a state-wide general election). If Christie does not support the ACA, then his chance of winning the general election will be greatly damaged as showing he is a Koch operative first, governor of the people second.
