Let's Not Forget: The largest block of Obama's voters were WHITE.

I ran across a chart that I couldn't find quickly just now. It showed the 100% of Obama's voters, broken out by the blocks that voted for him. To my surprise, the largest block that voted for him was white (it was maybe 39% of the 100% who voted for him?), then Af. American, then women, then hispanic, then Asian. Something like that.

To hear the media talk, very few whites voted for Obama, and Obama won ONLY because minorities voted for him.

It's true that most whites voted for Romney. But that's looking at it from a different angle. If you look at it from the angle of teh 100% who did vote for Obama, it was mainly whites who voted for him, probably because whites still comprise the largest block of voters.

Obama would not have won without the minority and woman vote, for sure. But he ALSO could not have won without the white vote.

This is a good thing to remember the next time a Repub says something stupid like, "Obama only won because blacks voted him in" or "Obama only won because of the hispanic vote." Those two things were integral to winning. But that's not ONLY why he won. He ALSO won because WHITES voted him in, too, by a large percentage.

Oh, and Obama also won the youth vote, the gay vote, the Cuban vote in FL, and the (insert just about any voting block here) vote.

It's important for Repubs to realize that Obama won virtually every voting block, except maybe the middle aged white man and/or the over 65 crowd. And I'm not sure about that second one.

1. Agreed. I hate this racial storyline the MSM has grabbed on too.

As I have shown in another thread, the only reason the National white vote for Obama is at 39% is because of the south. It is a regional problem, not a National issue. And its not even necessarily a racial problem for Obama, because I compared Obama's standing with white voters in the south to Kerry and Kerry's standing was actually worse.

Al Gore couldn't even carry his home state of TN for the same reason.

Obama did very well with white voters in the northeast and west. He also faired well in the midwest. Obama carried the battle-ground states of Iowa and New Hampshire based on the white vote alone.

He was basically even with Romney in Minnesota and Wisconsin just on the white vote. And he won the overwhelming majority of the white vote in many states including MA, OR, WA, CT, ME, etc.

4. I am white. I and most of my white friends voted for him.

My best friend is black. She voted for him, but she was actually less sure about her vote than I and my white friends were.

So that's about 8 white votes from me and my close white friends. And we're in Texas!

7. Here are the percentages of the white vote for Democratic candidates since 1980.

2012 Obama-39%
2008 Obama-43%
2004 Kerry-41%
2000- Gore-42%
1996 Clinton-43%
1992 Clinton-39%
1988 Dukakis-40%
1984 Mondale-35%
1980 Carter-36%

I love the media. They are acting like this is new. The truth is Obama's standing with white voters in 2012 is right in line with where democrats normally finish with white voters. In fact his percentage of white voters in 2012 is nearly identical to Bill Clinton in 1992. (Obama technically finished with a higher % of white voters than Clinton did in 1992 but the two are tied do to rounding.)

I just don't understand why the MSM is so ignorant with regard to our political system.

8. Its the republican media's attempt to delegitimize the president.

Its also their strategy to lure white voters to the republican party by portraying the Democratic party as the party of blacks (people that want stuff).
