Daily Kos: Alabama Joins the Secession Movement

In order to remove any doubt that Alabama is a backward, racist place to live, now a petition is being circulated at whitehouse.gov, seeking permission for Alabama to secede from the United States and form its own government.

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/...

Alabama overwhelmingly voted for Romney over Obama by a 60/40 margin, elected disgraced former Chief Justice Roy "Moses and the Ten Commandments Monument" Moore back into the all Republican Supreme Court, and passed Alabama Statewide Amendment 6 to "prohibit any person, employer, or health care provider from being compelled to participate in any health care system". (Proposed by Act 2011-617) .

If I weren't unfortunate enough to live in north Alabama, I would say go right ahead, buh bye, and don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

1. As a former Alabamian, all I want to do is wave bye-bye.

I'm sorry to all the other DU'ers in Alabama and these other places, but... Guys, really, valiant struggle on all that bailing, but there's no reason to go down with the ship. Come up to the Northwest, put that energy into making Eastern Washington and Oregon turn blue.

2. Since seccession was such a peaceful movement the last time they tried it...

pardon me if I don't believe their intent is likley to stay peaceful.

However, this is not the same as the government of the state.

Watch and wait.

3. If they can't have it their way,

then they don't want to play anymore. Maybe they will stir up a brew of that poison kool-aide and just check out for good. Sounds pretty drastic if you asked me. I think we Democrats endure election losses much better. I know some of us talk about leaving after an election loss, but we don't threaten to leave and take the state's property with us.

4. Can we just let them go this time around?

Why do we need them?

17. We need Alabama. Great area for redevelopment of manufacturing...and relocation for many immigrant

groups. Let's just move enough people there to overwhelm them and turn the state blue.

20. My thoughts exactly. The backwards-leaning red states just hold the rest of the country back.

5. reminds me of a Tom Lehrer lyric

from "Who's Next", which was on the old TV series "That Was The Week That Was"

First we got the bomb, and that was good,
'Cause we love peace and motherhood.
Then Russia got the bomb, but that's okay,
'Cause the balance of power's maintained that way.
Who's next?

France got the bomb, but don't you grieve,
'Cause they're on our side (I believe).
China got the bomb, but have no fears,
They can't wipe us out for at least five years.
Who's next?

Then Indonesia claimed that they
Were gonna get one any day.
South Africa wants two, that's right:
One for the black and one for the white.
Who's next?

Egypt's gonna get one too,
Just to use on you know who.
So Israel's getting tense.
Wants one in self defense.
"The Lord's our shepherd," says the psalm,
But just in case, we better get a bomb.
Who's next?

Luxembourg is next to go,
And (who knows?) maybe Monaco.
We'll try to stay serene and calm
When Alabama gets the bomb.

Who's next?
Who's next?
Who's next?
Who's next?

6. yeah, that worked out so well for them the first time they tried it

Leave it to right wing nuts to keep trying the same old things and hoping for different outcomes.

Morons.

I wonder what the Supreme Court will say when they consider The Alabama case to turn over the Voting Rights Act. Hahahaha I am sure they'll think Alabama is just kidding about secession!

10. Considering Mobile is more like New Orleans

than the rest of the state, this is truly sad. I say let the inland vermin hide up north, and let Mobile rejoin Louisiana.

21. Economically speaking, losing the South would help balance the budget.

And pay off the debt.

Alabama gets $1.66 for every $1 they spend.

12. It's ok with me if they go.

Just as long as they allow the 40% to leave before they build the fence around themselves to keep the liberals out.

P.S. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out....

14. Major OMEN: Alabama's Crimson Tide beaten solidly

Alabama makes anti-American noises, and immediately it's Number 1 nationally ranked and undefeated football team gets its ass handed to it by Texas A & M.

Alabamians would serve themselves and their nation well to take considered note of the synchronicity of this FALL FROM GRACE -- which happened on The Crimson Tide's home turf in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

For those EElEEte entities schooled in signology, this SIGN is dramatically & relevantly resonant.

http://www.kansas.com/2012/11/10/2563941/top-ranked-alabama-loses-to-texas.html

Crimson Tide QB A J McCarron howls in defeat - revealing the SOUL AGONY of a state that seems HELL BENT on contorting itself in fear and hate (core right wing energy generators) while rejecting America and American Values.

15. What clowns.

There are petitions for New York, New Jersey, and others as well. Texas has the most signatures.

But funnily enough, residents of other states are signing these petitions! 100% clown move.
