She is my dad's sister and my entire life they have been arguing politics - he became pretty liberal after moving to LA in 1959, and she just seemed to get more conservative year after year.
Well my parents were over tonight and told me she had confessed she couldn' t bring herself to vote for Willard although she hates Obama, Romney's dishonesty irked her and she was bothered by the line, "Don't worry about Medicare/SS if you're over 55" b/c it meant she SHOULD worry on her daughter's behalf.
Not the only GOP defector in my fam either my 78 y/o uncle in rural NV also voted for Obama b/c he thought Romney & Ryan came off like "smug SOBs who think they're your boss" although I knew awhile back he was going to. He didn't vote the Dem Senator but, PROGRESS!
Anyway while the Obama team gets most of the credit for the won let's not forget to thank Romney & Ryan for being so danmed obnoxious!

(2,391 posts)Houses I saw in Central Texas that have always had repub signs outside right before an election, had zero signs this year. And they were available, so it wasn't that.
I can't imagine having to live like that, whispering the truth to people.
I told him he was too decent a person to be republican.
(note: his parents, two college kids and an unemployed brother are among the 47% and he was extremely offended by that remark)

Didn't go so well with my husband's mother. She's in AZ, a life long republican. She told my husband that she voted for Romney, even though she thought Obama was probably better. Sad. But she's a wonderful mother-in-law in every other respect. I won't let it come between us.
