Fox News Hosts Embrace Immigrants Now That The GOP Needs Them

LAURA INGRAHAM

Laura Ingraham After Romney Loss: "The Language Of Dealing With Latinos Has To Be Changed." On the November 7 edition of Fox News' America Live, Fox contributor Laura Ingraham told host Megyn Kelly that "the language of dealing with Latinos has to be changed" in a discussion about how the GOP needs to "move to the center" on issues like immigration.

But Ingraham Decried "Amnesty" And Smeared Immigrants With False Claims

Ingraham: 12 Or 13 People Are "Killed Under DUIs By Illegals" Per Day. On the June 6 edition of The O'Reilly Factor, guest host Laura Ingraham claimed that 12 or 13 people a day are "killed under DUIs by illegals"

This isn't all that shocking as Fox News is the mouthpiece of the GOP. But can they really put the cat back in the bag after years of immigrant bashing? You already have wingnuts flipping out: http://www.salon.com/2012/11/09/conservatives_revolt_over_immigration_shift/

1. They may "change the language" but they will never change the substance.

They are what they are. They do what they do.

3. The fact that she would actually say "dealing with Latinos" proves that...

...she sees Latinos not as people but as a problem to be dealt with. I wonder if she's aware of how offensive her words are.

5. that's why they call them "illegals"

their immigration status becomes a noun, because it trumps the fact that they are human beings

4. Before you it, they'll start claiming that the ONLY real "welfare queens" are the corporations

They're etch-a-sketching too… That worked really well for MITT ROMNEY, didn't it?

8. Californian Rushpublicans Thought The Same Thing In the 90s...

After Proposition 187 ignited a Latino involvement in the political process and thus tipping the state from Red to Blue the rushpublicans there thought they could just change the lengua and the Hispanics would forget about how racist and hateful the party really is. The "logic" is that since most Hispanics are Catholics...and many devout...this means they are "natural allies" in such things as opposition to same sex marriage and abortion. They also prefer making common cause with Hispanics rather than blacks...and if they can pit one against the other...so much the better. Remember, we're dealing with a party where racism still energizes the base.

To a limited degree they made some headway when dubya courted the Hispanic vote in '00 but in the "Post 9/11" world the rushpublicans once again resorted to their racist, xenophobic ways and turned "illegal immigration" into a new talking point and code word to mean "dirty Mexicans" and try to energize white vote in areas with growing Hispanic populations. It was a stupid tactic, just as Prop 187 was...and here are two asshats...Ingrate and Insannity...talking about "changing"? Yeah...right!

9. Well, I suppose I could post a 5,000 word rant on their disgusting hypocrisy

rank mendacity and fathomless selfishness, but why bother? Everyone can see them for exactly what they are.

11. Sounds to me like they are willing to change the language to embrace Latinos but no others?

Be careful out there about the "divide and conquer" RW-GOP machine. For decades this is how they divided the poor whites from the poor blacks and the working-classes from each other.
