(for the younger generation - she was behind the 2000 fiasco).
(edited for correct spelling) (edit, again, for Florida. I need to move away from the keyboard)

You know the spiel, the one our mothers gave to us and we passed to our children? Yeah that's the one.
I dare say 99% of DU knows of Katherine Harris and her role in FL/2000 all too well. Now, stop those tears; tain't a big deal!! |

5. She became a Congresswoman in a red district for a few years
|
Then in 2006 she tried to run a statewide campaign for the Senate and realized the rest of the state did not love her so much. There was also a bribery scandal on top of her failed Senate run and her political career died, unfortunately however she never went to prison which is where she belongs.

10. I think this is worth posting from the article

Last edited Sat Nov 10, 2012, 01:11 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) The Sarasota Herald-Tribune describes the home (and check out the ocean-side view of the house) that Harris and her husband, Swedish businessman Anders Ebbeson, are building on the bay, south of downtown Sarasota, as a “French inspired mini-palace,” and it’s reportedly as large as 23,000 square feet (18,000 of which are air-conditioned) — that’s seven times larger than the White House residential quarters, though only twice as big as the beachfront home GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is planning.
Read the entire article. It's worth it. |

11. that they "have a need or desire to accomplish
|
something in their lives"
Buying a house is not an accomplishment, mentoring failing students is an accomplishment Having a French looking POS with 8 bathrooms is not an accomplishment, helping someone get off the streets and back to being in charge of their own life is. Let's keep things in perspective and let's keep people like spunk, moxie and kathy out of our lives. That would be a greater accomplishment. |

I love that post from the comments. That house is overkill.
