Mapping racist Tweets: where post-election hate came from

After the 2012 U.S. Presidential election, vocal racists took to Twitter.

It looks like the top state for the most racist Tweets is Alabama, closely followed by Mississippi.

The top ten states for post-election Tacist tweets - according to Floating Sheep's [interactive] GeoCommons map, - are:

Those red dots are over the Twin Cities, which are among the most Democratic cities in America. So while there evidently are some nut jobs here, they do not reflect the majority of the population, which voted about 75% to 82% for Obama. Most of the Republican votes came from the exurbs.

We voted for Obama by about 80 - 20 here in my county in the east bay. Those nuts, while few and far between out here, I guess still exist in some capacity.
