3. We are all in this together.
|
And until everyone on this planet realizes that - realizes that the only way we will survive on this planet is to work together, to find common ground, we will eventually be gone.
Celebrate our differences, and at the same time, celebrate our oneness. Just be happy we are fortunate enough to be alive on that little dot. |

14. When Felix Baumgartner did his record-setting jump...
|
127,000 feet above the Earth just recently, his last words before jumping were something to the effect of "It is only when you get so high up that you realize just how small you are."
Several Apollo astronauts expressed that same sentiment. Neil Armstrong said, "It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small." We are all so fragile and dependent on each other, a lot more than we think. I wish we could all go into space and come to that realization on our own, but failing that, at least we have the wisdom of Carl Sagan and the astronauts to guide us there. |

35. There Was A Great Story From The Actors Involved With The Movie 'Contact'....
|
They talked about Carl, dying of Cancer at the time, who would stop mid-bite of spaghetti and meatballs... and talk about the Cosmos and what the story of 'Contact' might mean...
And the actors recountened... that when Carl held his fork fully loaded with the afore mentioned meal... and held it there to make a point on science... ALL the actors stopped eating too.. they wanted the information... and did not want their personal needs to interrupt the knowledge that was being imparted. |
