Can we please stop the ageism some people have. Age is a relative thing and immaterial
This "she is too old" (referring both to Hillary and Elizabeth Warren as they are the same age) and Joe Biden is as bad as any other remark about an "ism"
(i.e. sexism, homophobia, racism, anti-semitism, etc.) and besides todays 70 is like being 40 or 50 (and young people like Ryan well, they are the ones with some screwy ideas anyhow LOL) Golda Meir created history at what some here consider (HORRORS) an older age besides, it reminds me of how John Edwards groupies used to deride me and my board name who it was named after Bob Graham as being too damn old to be VP in 2004. Had he been the VP instead of the fraud Edwards was, we would have won Florida and many other states in 2004 (same in 2000, if Graham had been picked we would have won Florida so big it couldn't have been stolen) so please stop with the "she is too old" bullshit.

things just get harder to do and the get up and go can sometimes get up and go.
I think Hillary looks exhausted and she probably wants a nice long vacation and look to being a granma. |

4. I agree

We shouldn't be picking a candidate soley based on how many years they can give judgments in our favor anyway. That's just as wrong as the republicans picking a minority candidate hoping it will fix their problems with the minority communities.

7. How is it ageism to acknowledge that human beings have a limited lifespan?
|
A Supreme Court Justice who's 55 will in all likelihood have more years of productive service on the bench before retiring than one who is 70, provided that that individual enjoys good health. That's reality. I haven't seen anyone suggesting that a 70 year old would be less qualified than a younger justice. In fact, the opposite may be true as more years of experience in the law can be drawn upon by that person. The only argument I've seen in favor of a younger Justice is that it would probably guarantee a longer period of service for the person, offering the other party less of a chance to put in a replacement. I haven't seen any arguments suggesting that an older Justice would not perform as well.

Everyone gets old in the end, and those who say I am too old will some day be my age if they are lucky.

69 is a very advanced age to take the oath of office to be President of the United States.
This is not ageism. It's reality. You can see the toll the job is taking on Barack Obama. Hillary is in many ways a superwoman, but she is a human being for all that. |

... it's NOTHING "like being 40 or 50." It's silly and unrealistic to pretend it is.
That said, would a Elizabeth Warren or Hillary be able to handle the riggers of a run and 4 years in the hot seat? I lean towards yes, but sudden illness in our age bracket can change that suddenly and without notice. |
