I absolutely adored Pres. Kennedy and was heart-broken at his horrible and untimely death. It still makes me sad. But in addition to sadness, I began some time ago to grieve for the second term that was not to be. I thought we would never again have such a great and beloved President.
Along came Obama. To me, he is the closest we could ever have to another JFK. Superstitious or just my usual paranoia made me worry about re election. So this victory is so sweet on many levels.
I love my wonderful President.
2. Unless people were alive in the time of JFK, they can't appreciate
how exciting a time that was and how he motivated an entire generation of young people. JFK's motorcade once stopped in front of my house and he said a few words to the cheering crowd that lined the street. I remember it like yesterday.
I felt a bit of the same excitement four years ago when Obama became President and I feel it now. I agree that he's the closest to JFK we've had and I'm not part of the young generation anymore.
