Woman fired for Obama racial slur on Facebook
Woman fired for Obama racial slur on Facebook
TURLOCK, Calif. (AP) — A California woman has been fired and reported to the Secret Service for her President Barack Obama racial slur and assassination comment on Facebook. The Modesto Bee (http://bit.ly/TPtRc5) says 22-year-old Denise Helms of Turlock posted the inflammatory comments on the social media site shortly after the president's re-election on Tuesday. She used the n-word in referring to Obama and wrote that maybe he will be assassinated this term. Helms then told a Sacramento TV station that she wouldn't mind a bit if someone assassinated Obama. Helms was fired Thursday from her job at the Stone Cold Creamy store. Store director Chris Kegle says the comments are disgusting. Secret Service Agent Scott Gillingham in Sacramento says the incident is being investigated. 7. their parents are what's wrong with them... and the media.
|
And frankly, based on the stuff I heard when my daughters were in school post Clinton, I think that many schools are not teaching the reality of how it feels to lose a President that way. When I was growing up, no one would even dream of thinking that, or saying it, or joking about it. It was just too painful, regardless of who you voted for.
The RW media has caused this in many ways, but legitimizing the people that used to be fringe people.. and made it okay to say shit like that. She is truly an ignorant person. I hope she doesn't breed little racist ignorants like herself, but I'm thinking that's a given. |

18. Interesting point
|
I was in high school when President Reagan was shot and I remember my Mother and I watching the news updates in horror; the fact that both my parents were die-hard Democrats and couldn't stand Reagan's policies having nothing at all to do with how we felt about our President being attacked like that.

The office of the president needs to be held with a certain respect no matter who occupies it. |

13. Freedom of association means freedom to disassociate
|
She's free to say whatever she wants. They're free to disassociate themselves from her because of it.
I was a business owner for many years, with more than a dozen employees on staff. I'd have fired an employee in a heartbeat if I'd discovered any of them posting racist or bigoted material on the Internet in ANY way that made them personally identifiable or that connected them to the company. There's no way I'd have let someone's bigotry smear the name of the company. |

Last edited Fri Nov 9, 2012, 01:12 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Seems once one reads past what appears to be a communist type response to freedom of speech,
SHE ALSO COMMENTED ABOUT ASSASSINATION! So what do you think she was really fired and SS'd over, a racial slur of which I'm sure their are thousands on facebook, or the assassination remark. Is SFGate a right wing paper, or why are they promoting this mischaracterization of the Obama Secret Service and her employer. |

|
1. Idiot posts assassination wish against the president using a racial epithet on FB and twitter
2. Idiot is surprised to see the backlash from people who read her posts 3. Idiot actually thinks she's protected by the first amendment for those words 4. Idiot does the same old tried-and-true tactic of "doubling down" on stupid when interviewed by local TV: She told the Fox 40 reporter: "I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. … The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying like I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don't think I'd care one bit." Helms has since deleted the post and posted again about the incident. It reads: "So apparently my post last night about Obama got onto Twitter and Fox 40 came and interviewed me cause apparently a lot of people in Sacramento think I'm crazy and racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I'm not racist and I'm not crazy. just simply stating my opinion.!!!" Read more here: http://www.modbee.com/2012/11/08/2448491/obama-threat-gets-woman-fired.html#storylink=cpy 5. Idiot is shocked that she gets fired 6. Only NOW does idiot make half-assed apology, but still whines about being persecuted for her opinion and insists she isn't racist.. |

From the site:
Demi Keely, who has been competing in pageants since she was little girl and most recently competed in Miss Louisiana Prom Girl, displayed her inner-beauty when she tweeted "If you going for the monkey, shoot yourself, seriously." Keely attends Carencro High School in Carencro, LA. Calls placed to the principal's office were not returned. Her Twitter account is still up and running, and she's made no mention of any resulting disciplinary action. When she was confronted by others on Twitter for her language, she responded: Demi Keely @demikeely KEEP YOUR FUCKING TWEETS TO YOURSELF! I can voice my opinion if I want to! |

She has the freedom to saw what she wants, but she does not have the freedom to not face any consequences for what she says. She is not being put in jail for saying this. Her employer has the freedom to not keep someone on the payroll who will offend or insult customers, or not work well with co-workers, due to her racism.
