McConnell: GOP not budging on tax rates

McConnell: GOP not budging on tax rates
By Alexander Bolton - 11/09/12 10:13 AM ET

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has drawn a line in the sand on raising taxes, defying Democratic predictions that GOP leaders will compromise on tax hikes.

“One issue I’ve never been conflicted about is taxes,” McConnell said in a statement released to Breitbart News. “I wasn’t sent to Washington to raise anybody’s taxes to pay for more wasteful spending, and this election doesn’t change my principles.

“This election was a disappointment, without doubt, but let’s be clear about something: The House is still run by Republicans, and Republicans still maintain a robust minority in the Senate,” he added in the statement, released late Thursday. “I know some people out there think Tuesday’s results mean Republicans in Washington are now going to roll over and agree to Democrat demands that we hike tax rates before the end of the year. I’m here to tell them there is no truth to that notion whatsoever.”

1. Fine. We won't 'pass' an increase. It will come when idiot's tax cuts expire automatically.

6. The Tortise has spoken

The Tortise has never worked a job outside of government.
Perhaps we should blame him for the mess that he has caused in this country

Democrats have to put this shit in front of their face everytime they start blaming

10. Wedensday I had a conservative try to explain to me why they can't compromise

I won't try and quote the rambling word salad.

I just replied:

That's one of the reasons they fail.

11. All posturing aside

You will...or it will happen.

I love posturing.

Your counterpart left an opening, which he walked back 24 hours later, and will flop back to...we call this reality.

21. Yes and

I think this is something we are going to see much more of from now on. Like Rmoney did ad nauseum, When the cameras are on say what you think the country wants to hear and then walk it back later when the cameras are turned off. Most people are getting their news from video sources and when they see Boner saying he is putting revenue on the table that becomes what they know as fact. It then gets repeated to friends, family... and becomes their reality.

What we on the left need to do IMHO is make damn sure that the "walk back" gets at least as much video play where republicans will see it as the original statement. Serves the additional purpose of making the other side look flaky.

note of this: the Republicans have no intention of changing their ways. Ever.

28. They

keep trying to push Mitt Romney's Policies and the White House Press corp tried to trip Carney up. All Carney had to do is tell them the Bush taxcuts has been in place for 10 years now. So where are these jobs? Enough said to the idiot Whitehouse Press corp. Let the Bush taxcuts expire period and end this discussion. They have the opportunity to extend those taxcuts for 98 percent of the people but they are still holding them hostage and so is the so called Press corp. These people think we are dumb! They can kiss my you know what just like the election. Trying to blame the President is not going to fly for the Repuke's or the press this time. Your taxes will not be cut period. nd I can see why the President doesn't want to talk to these idiots. They are too busy pushing Repukes' agendas.
