Kroger to Hire 100,000 Veterans by 2020

Kroger stores throughout the country will be hiring veterans. The company said about 10,000 veterans work for the company throughout the country and by 2020 Kroger plans to add another 100,000 veterans to the team.

"As our veterans return from both Afghanistan and maybe from Iraq it's important that we do give them a job and offer them a job," said Gary Huddleston, Kroger’s Director of Consumer Affairs.

Jack Chambers, an Army veteran, said he worked odd jobs for two years until he found full-time employment with Kroger.

"It wasn't simple. It was like I was just started out new out of high school," he said. "At first I was just bouncing around from family member to family member. Now I have my own place, my own car, my own everything and right when I got out I had nothing."

Veteran Gerald Burson said he joined the team as a co-manager at the Kroger location on Belt Line Road and Northgate Drive in Irving in September.
