Any of you experiencing postpartum like symptoms today?

I am. My stomach has eased for the first time in a year.
But since I am semi-retired, I'll have to expend my energy
in another direction. Maybe I'll talk to my wife?

2. Yes! I am still tempted to check Nate Silver every half hour!

And why am I not seeing Pres. Obama on TV all the time anymore? I think I have withdrawal symptoms. I miss him so much.

I am already tired of hearing about the "future of the republican party" on TV. Let's get on with the progressive agenda instead!

7. Weird day let me tell you

Start the day with the news of what facilities we are closing. Some really good friends that I have worked with for many, many years will be out of a job at the end of next year.

As for my job, still don't know anything. They have to evaluate every position in our facility (R&D) to decide how we will support the business going forward in what can be described as a run it until it breaks mode. R&D is basically dead for this industry much like what happened to Kodak and the film industry.

I know that I have a job that could last next week possibly through next January. If I am still here after January, I will know if I still have a job going forward or not. They did tell us what severance pay would be if we were terminated so that does not bode well.

My only hope is the one person who is leading all these decisions is the one that promoted me to the position I currently work in. If that position is still needed that is.

Thanks for the thoughts.

10. Consumer products a big name brand that competes with Procter & Gamble.

This all started when some brilliant exec decided to raise prices on what we sell Wal-Mart and Disney.

Both companies said no, and we no longer sell to them. Walmart was our biggest customer. Then the CEO said that was the right decision. In his next breath he announced there would be a restructuring.

Live and by Wal-Mart since not doing business was the right decision, 1500 people must lose their jobs and the communities will pay the price.

I know Walmart is an evil business, but if you build your business on them, you will close your business on them if you break that tie.

120 year old business at the end of the road.

Similar to Kodak.

11. Worked my life in retail including my own business. Wow!

When an exec. makes a decision like that its huge. The results must of been for seen.....
Perhaps you guys were loosing just too much money selling to those monopolies?
Walmart basically tells you what they want to pay which then forces manufacturers
move to China!
If they are restructuring I bet you make the cut. They will want to keep their best
Its a financial decision. Keep us updated.....Perhaps me by email.

12. We are/were the cash cow

Our division supported Union Carbide, we were sold to Ralston because we were the profit. We were spun off as our own company which quickly generated so much cash that the company bought 3 other businesses and they say they will continue to use the cash from our division to pay for investment in the other divisions.

They are just stripping us down to run in maintenance mode, no innovation, being in engineering, it is kind of scary right now.

13. Man you're right in the guts of the Machinery Machine. Must be a ton of right wingers all over the

place. Keep low on the politics you need your job. Sounds like the guy you were arguing with is
out of his mind. However, I bet he doesn't complain about you.

14. No. Watching Obama and his team working on handling the problems we face. Amazing...

how can they NOT be absolutely fatigued to the point of not being able to think? How is taht possible? Don't they need a few days off? But Presidents don't get a few days off I guess.

I'm glad it's over, though. I can exhale.

15. I just feel like I'm floating on a cloud in a daze

with no tensions or worries. In fact I lost a day somewhere along the way as I thought today was Thursday.
