Fox News Fails To Persuade Enough Suckers To Vote For Romney
Posted by Mark on November 7, 2012 at 11:32 am.

Despite their best efforts, Fox News is the biggest loser this morning, having utterly failed in their crusade to advance the prospects of their primary client, the Republican Party. Their sacred mission of partisan deception was proven to be impotent and ineffective.

snip//

The Fox News campaign effort relied conspicuously on false themes that never took hold outside the confines of the Fox bubble. They accused Obama of going on an “apology tour;” of disparaging small business owners by saying that they didn’t “build that;” of weakening welfare by removing work requirements; of plotting to ship Jeep production to China. None of it was true, and none of it was accepted by a public who is smarter than Fox thinks they are.

Nevertheless, Fox persisted in forcing their pre-masticated bullshit down the throats of American voters. They featured a parade of Republican politicians and pundits to pound their message into the already mushy brains of their viewers. Among their most brazenly partisan escapades was the broadcast of a four minute anti-Obama campaign-style video that was so egregiously inappropriate that they later pulled it from the air and their web site.

snip//

Wrap all of that into a package that also included a War on Women, an aversion to fact-checkers, and his now-famous Etch-a-Sketching of his prior positions, and you have a recipe for electoral disaster. Not even the unprecedented presence of Super PACS dumping unheard of millions into the GOP effort could rescue Romney from defeat. Although it is heartening to know that folks like Sheldon Adelson, Karl Rove, and the Koch brothers wasted so much money and have nothing to show for it.

This morning Fox News is scrambling to make excuses for coming up short. However, they refuse to take any responsibility for the electoral outcome. In many ways they seem to refuse to even admit defeat. Every story begins with the observation that the Republicans retained control of the House, and ends by saying that the losses were not the fault of the conservative agenda, but the strength of a powerful Obama campaign team and the bias on all the other media outlets.

That sense of denial is what defines the character of Fox News. And it may harden as they dig in to oppose Obama’s next four years. Their purpose for the next week or so will be to absolve themselves of any guilt, and to comfort their shocked audience who, because of Fox’s single-minded partisanship, never saw this coming. But judging from the reactions this morning, it is clear that Fox intends to continue to lie to their glassy-eyed disciples and to lie about their ideological adversaries. So strap yourselves in – it’s gonna be a bumpy four years.

From the faux noise wingnuts I encountered over the past 24 hours or so, denial is only trumped (pun intended) by their misguided anger and frustration. These people got hit by a truck and are blaming the pavement for not being soft enough. They're convinced WE are the duped and stupid ones while they hold all the important knowledge that should have disqualified President Obama and all other Democrats from ever serving in public office. They were certain they were gonna win...their skewed polls said so and it was echoed all day by hate radio. The bubble not only was insulated its now developing a bubble within the bubble...those who not only deny the results AND MANDATE President Obama won the other night but now deny that faux was wrong...that they were deliberately lied to. Instead its all some massive conspiracy. It's a very unhealthy way to live.

The biggest story the faux noise and hate radio crowd have missed is that the American electorate just gave them the finger and is moving on. The longer they remain in the bubble, the further behind they'll get...

Like another 2 and then 4 years. From what I've seen so far (and I'm sure you have as well)...the denial is teamed up with irrational anger. These people aren't ready to accept any reality and as long as they live in the bubble and continue to climb Bullshit Mountain they'll continue to believe in their own infallibility. It was their downfall in the past two general elections...now let's make 'em pay in the off year ones as well.

Thu Nov 8, 2012, 08:41 AM
Nov 2012

They had their followers so convinced it was going to be a landslide (heck, even some of the anchors seemed to drink the Kool-Aid on this one) that when the President won reelection they were literally shocked. When all evidence to the contrary showed that their landslide narrative was incorrect, they passed it off, on air, as biased polls. Dick Morris told us it'd be a landslide, Rove told us Romney was going to win... it must be true, I saw it on Fox Noise.

Since Fox Noise will never say they got it wrong, their followers, like the brainwashed disciples they are, will beat the "it was stolen" drum. They will attack people like Nate Silver because his math was the opposite of what they were ingesting from Fox.

Rachel was right last night, beseeching them to come back to reality, because overall, it's better for the entire nation. Howard Fineman was right on Ed's show a few nights back when he talked about there being two sets of facts now... the real one's and the one's the right continue to believe (which, obviously aren't facts at all, but propaganda) and it being problematic for good journalism to be ingested.

How long before those indoctrinated on the right completely lose their shit and do permanent harm to their party? They'll more than likely double-down on their conservatism, going further to the right. We're already seeing evidence of this and I see 2014 being a boon for us--as long as we hone the message that WE are the party of reality, that WE are the party of honesty and that WE are the party of inclusiveness.

Only time will tell, but if we see fox news ratings start to decline in a significant way, it will mean that people are realizing that they have been lied to for years and that there is more than just the propaganda from the RW.

The other way to tell is if fox starts changing its programming and pundits so that more of reality begins to seep in. This will be difficult for them, because as more reality is presented the bullshit they serve up will become more stark in its obviousness.

17. We need a GROUP LAWSUIT against FAUX News by THE PEOPLE for their constant slander and liable.
Thu Nov 8, 2012, 09:45 AM
Nov 2012

Get some financial reimbursement for their irresponsible behavior with the laws that are still on the books.

THE MEME for it is: AVERAGE Person spreads LIES and DEFAMES another citizen and they are brought to justice. SAME LAWS APPLY to the MEDIA. FAUX is the WORST OFFENDER against presenting straight forward facts and allowing viewers to make up their own mind.

IF it comes back other media outlets like CNN or MSNBC and they have to retract stuff, so be it. The ACTUAL case for slander or liable would have to be met, so IF that is going on, it should be shut down too. MOST of them usually self-police this type of stuff, so that needs to be pointed out whenever the whining starts about treating them differently.

WE need to get a RESTRAINING ORDER against them portraying themselves as a NEWS organization like Canada did. Force them to remove the word NEWS from every bit of print and air media they have, their business cards etc and FINE them at least $25,000 any time they egregiously use that word in connection with any of their "schtick" that they produce for public consumption.

In addition they should be legally RESTRAINED from actions that fall under "Inciting to Riot" aimed at their viewers. No more talking about "shooting, hanging, assassinating "people in the "government" or people with "liberal views" and getting away with it. FINE them at least $25,000 any time they go there with the proviso that if it does not significantly decrease in 1 year's time then their whole network can be shut down, unincorporated and forced to completely begin anew under another name, but also anyone who has EVER worked for the company is still bound by those rules and brings with them the potential for the FINES and possible closure of any organization that shelters them and caters to this behavior.

As far as FAUX viewers go, we need to take the MEME of cooperation and turn it back on them. When the OBSTRUCTION begins, we need to go to our Republican neighbors, families and friends and say, "Here is what the bill does. Here is how it is good for America. Your Congress Critter is objecting on false grounds. AS ONE OF YOURS this person is SUPPOSED TO LISTEN TO YOU, so tell that Servant of the People to STOP WHINING and SERVE YOUR CONSTITUENTS or FIND A NEW JOB IN 2014.

We need to get completely versed in the 27 point plan and help Obama flesh out the parts that are still in the beginning stages. In a war where the other side chooses IGNORANCE and LIES as their weapons EDUCATION and TRUTH are the direct response and cut right to the root of the problem.

WE WON.

OUR PLAN is about JOBS IN AMERICA. THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE except the uuber rich.

TAXES go back to Clinton ERA levels which worked. Remind out folks across the isle to not let the 1% fool them into thinking that means 75-90% taxes on the rich. We are talking 35-37% and that is manageable for people who actually have disposable income after their basic needs are met. Folks in the $250,000 range can handle it.

OUR PLAN IS THAT EVERY VOTE COUNTS SO COUNT EVERY VOTE.... ONCE. No more Super PACS. We HAD to go there to even be in the same ballpark financially with billionaires who wanted to BUY the election. Campaign finance reform so that any money the candidates get is DIRECTLY from voters and limited. THIS IS A GOOD SELL because EVERYONE IS SICK of the ADS. NO MORE of THAT CRAP. They can stump speech all they want and go on PUBLIC TV when they want a larger audience.

the boards of directors at those companies need to vote these buffoons out of their chairmanships. They show poor fiscal restraint and management of funds. I cannot fathom being able to justify losing hundreds of millions of dollars to myself let alone anyone else. All of that money could have gone to building schools in communities. It could have gone to paying their fair share of taxes--clearly they're not too broke if they can piss away reams of money like that.... they can more than afford to do it without jeopardizing the jobs of their underlings.

re: the delusional right: all it took was listening to viewer calls on c-span yesterday to hear just how out of touch with reality so many people are. What these callers did was assert a lie then flip to a non sequitur to back it up. Anyone knows that that is not how one justifies their point--but these idiots don't have any hard fact or truth to back up their fantasies, so they switch streams of thought and attempt to conflate the two. They are just stunned that that train all of us are on which is going forward basically rolled over them and left them scattered all over the tracks behind us. This country ain't going back to anything... the right clearly doesn't have the numbers to do that and they never will. That is why they resorted to attempting to steal votes and engage in voter registration fraud. Never in a million years did they think they'd be the ones who got caught.

They may all suck up and fawn, all enthralled, over bald faced liars, but it's beyond clear that the rest of this country cannot countenance a liar and those liars, in the end, were exposed, as all lies are in the bright light of the truth.

small market share when compared to the the big three. Their function is to provide blatant propaganda so as to provide cover for the big three that allows the big three to broadcast a more subtle, and more effective propaganda.
This was what I took away from the Clinton witch hunts and impeachment for unimpeachable offenses. Sorry, but not disclosing lurid and graphic details of the President's personal sex life is not an impeachable offense.
Pox News led the impeachment charge and the big three got in line and jumped on board the bandwagon with the lunatic fringe.
No one in the corporate media, excepting Kieth Olbermann, refused to cover the nonstop Republican jihad against a duly elected President.
The Republican attempt at a bloodless coup d'etat was blatant and the media just acted like it was normal.
Currently the news chain starts with Rove who passes it to Drudge who sends it to Rash Limbaugh who gives the nod to Pox News that gives cover to CNN and then it's picked up by the big three as propaganda disguised as news.
Like the defunct Soviet Union, the people of the United States are becoming more aware every day that our news is nothing more or less than that old whore propaganda in a cheap disguise.
Presstitution fails more every day, and soon today's convention will be in History's dust bin.

If they can't get off it completely, then at least give 1 hour a day to Rachel Maddow on MSNBC, to counterbalance their Fox News addiction. This is all I ask of my Republican friends.

left needs to recognize talk radio is the bigger problem. fox tv depends on RW radio being ignored and it has been for 20 years. fox cannot do the unchallenged repetition to enough people to be able to create the big lies.

if the left stops ignoring RW radio and starts responding to the BS (coordinated repetition used to create their alternate reality and intimidate politicians and media) in real time, fox will melt down into a pool of sticky smelly goop and ALL it's creeps will be laughed off the air.

They are spending a LOT of money on those "personalities" and all it's done is poison their other operations. A few million viewers isn't worth the headache of having the public associate FOX "News" with 20th Century Fox or their regular network "Fox Broadcasting" that used to carry shows like "Married with Children" and still airs "The Simpsons", "Family Guy" and "American Dad". It especially poisons their local news.
