Let's play a game.
Write down all the things you are. You don't have to share what you are. But put it into these categories:
Things you cannot change: (Health, gender, race, etc.)
Things you firmly believe in: (religion or atheism, pro-choice or pro-life, etc.)
Things you do that people could define as "who you are is what you do": (Your jobs, hobbies, volunteer work, etc.)
Things you aren't but should be: (What you want to do vs. what people nag you to do.)
Now count all the things on that list and total it up. Then count the ones where you've faced discrimination and list that number.
Things I cannot change: 7
Things I firmly believe in: 13
Things people could define you as: 10
Things you aren't but should be: 11
Total: 41
Discrimination so far: 30
I'm surprised it wasn't all 41.
Ps. Numbers don't really matter. Point is that no one is ever free of discrimination and it's really very interesting to see it all on paper yourself...I did this out of boredom.
