What was it that Tweety had to apologize for?

I just heard him say something about his apology to Chuck Todd...

1. Late last night he was talking about the factors that led to Obama's victory

and he said something to the effect that Hurricane Sandy was a good thing for the campaign, which of course sounded awful. Obviously he only meant the political outcome but it sounded pretty insensitive.

4. I think his apology, though, was sincere. He looks horrified at himself.

7. Yes, he stepped on his dick and he knows it.

I'm sure he didn't mean it to sound the way it did.

3. About 3 AM, slap happy from lack of sleep

He was glad we had Super storm Sandy last week....it brought in possibilities for good politics. He issued a sincere apology first thing on his show tonight.

6. Thanks. I was mercifully asleep at 3 am. I gave up right after the Prez spoke...but I had

dozed quite nicely through the 10-12 hours...

8. I was a poll worker here in Palm Beach County, FL....

by the time I got home I was too tired to even think straight. Managed to stay awake long enough to hear the president's acceptance speech and then passed out myself.

10. He also said "dicking around" a little earlier ...

when criticizing Obama's speech ... not that it was a big deal, but in concert with the Sandy comments, it was pretty obvious he doesn't need to be on the air anytime after midnight. I do appreciate his sincere apology and hope folks accept it and put it behind them.

14. I heard that "dicking around"

just as I was dozing off... I agree it was a sincere apology. Matthews is all about the "process" and I think the lack of sleep was showing long before 3 am. He's not a youngster anymore and he's a diabetic...that takes a toll.

Even Rachel was beginning to droop a little. Big Ed and Rev Al looked as cool as cucumbers though.

5. Regarding Hurricane Sandy...

He said, "I'm so glad we had that storm last week."

Really, really awful thing to say. I think he should be fired for it.

9. Sleep deprivation is a very, very BAD thing! I have had serious sleep deprivation, causing me to

hallucinate (ICU psychosis). I hope Tweety has learned his lesson. Do NOT f*ck around with your brain!!!

19. Oh, everybody has done that!

It comes out of your mouth and a split second later you want to shrivel up and die! I did that in a course in grad school but thankfully my professor was kind and knew it was just an offhand remark (I was mortified that I had said it).

Sh*t happens. These guys should really take sleep deprivation more seriously. It is not a silly thing to appreciate and understand your body. Take care! You never know when it can mean a lot!

25. My mouth frequently slips into gear before my brain...

and I have to work really hard to not simply blurt out the first thing that pops into my head!

You are absolutely correct about sleep deprivation and to make it worse, Matthews will be 67 next month and has Type II diabetes...he needs to give up the super late nights.

24. He sincerely apologized.

It's not like he says things like that on a regular basis. I think it's wrong to condemn any and everyone who has ever said something thoughtless with the loss of their livelihood. You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion, I will simply hope that if you make some serious mistake in the future, you are given some consideration and not crucified for it.

He isn't going to become destitute if he gets fired.

27. So that makes it all right?

He's been a political junkie his entire adult life...you would strip him of that for one thoughtless, sleep deprivation induced remark? Should Ed Schultz have been fired for calling Laura Ingraham a slut? These were mistakes not the regular borderline criminal abuse tactics of Limbaugh or Coulter. If people are not allowed to make mistakes just who will ever be willing to provide the services needed?

22. I saw it; he instantly regretted it

I understand what he meant. The storm was horrible; I wish it didn't happen, but it was an ill wind that blew some good: it really showed that government is needed. Much better if it hadn't happened.

He was exhausted and it showed.

23. No, I actually believe that it was the excellent planning and execution of the ground game that

was the real winning deal here. Without that, they would not have had what they had going for them before the storm. The storm was actually not a very good thing (could have seriously impeded and did impede (a bit) .

21. That's how a sincere apology is supposed to be delivered - as

opposed to those who claim to be sorry "if anyone was offended".
