So who's on the Republican bench?

Remember that Republicans usually choose the person who ran second in the primary, but this last season's primary was so poorly predictive that I suspect they may break with this.

Santorum? Please...
Gingrich?
Ryan?
McCain?

Who can they run in 2016?

BTW, who are we running?

1. Who cares? That election is four years from now.

Let's just take care of current business for a few years.

Plus, isn't it up to the Republicans themselves to figure out who will run in 2016?

And it's equally too early to even consider who will get the Democratic nomination that year. Given the way it's worked out in the past several cycles, I'd suggest it will be someone not even on the radar at this point.

2. My point was that they don't have anybody.

An empty cupboard. Ryan was supposed to be hot stuff.

I agree this is a time to get things done. But we could end up with the office for more than just four more years...

4. But it's still

FOUR YEARS from now. Four years ago the common wisdom, at least here, was that Sarah Palin would be the nominee in 2012. I personally thought she'd disappear an no one would remember who she was by now. Boy, I was wrong about that, but she didn't exactly become the nominee.

There is no possible way to know what will happen in the future. No way to predict who will wind up looking like a good candidate a few years from now. So just chill, and concentrate on things that can actually be dealt with in the here and now.

3. If they are smart

they'll run Rubio -- Hispanic and would put Florida on their column.

Fortunately we can count on them not being smart
