The Obama family celebrated Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday on Sunday by attending services at an historic African-American church. The first family attended services at Zion Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.
According to a White House official:
This morning, the First Family were honored to worship and celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday with the congregation of the historic Zion Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Zion Baptist Church is a historic congregation in the nation's capital founded in 1864 by African Americans who migrated to Washington from Fredericksburg, VA. The pastor of Zion Baptist Church is Rev. Keith Byrd, Sr.
The President and the First Family have enjoyed worshiping with a number of D.C.-area congregations. They have attended services at 19th Street Baptist Church, the Washington National Cathedral, Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, and multiple services at St. John's Episcopal Church and Evergreen Chapel at Camp David.

The churchs program books also featured a plea for donations to the Occupy D.C. protest movement. Warm blankets, sleeping bags, hand and feet warmers were among the items requested for the movement, which has members camped out in two Washington squares.

Or many others, including Reagan.

. . . as he appears to observe. I'm going to guess that it's more a matter of logistics concerning his family, than any aversion to worship. He was a regular member at his hometown church.
