this just came into my email inboxSEND ME A NON-VOTER'S NUMBER AND I WILL PERSONALLY CALL OR TEXT THEM
Tuesday, November 6th, 2012
Friends,
There are only a few hours left until the polls close. Every minute is precious at this point. I know many/most of you have convinced your one non-voter to vote today. But I/we need a million of these, and I want no non-voter left behind.
Is there someone you know/love who is still on the fence and has not voted yet today? Would a personal call or text from me help? Send me their cell number and I will spend the next four hours calling or texting them to ask/plead that they go to the polls right now.
You can text me their number at 810-522-8398. Obviously I won't be able to get to them all, but I will do as many as I can.
Time is running out. I'm already on the phone...
Yours,
Michael Moore

(53,661 posts)I have noticed some anti MM posts that distressed me - and I can't even really believe it.
Honest to God, a National Treasure like he should be cherished and loved and supported.

(14,040 posts)that's one of the things that bother me... we should be free to be critical of our President. He has asked us to be and when MM, who has a louder megaphone than most does what the President asks, he gets grief for it.

(22,380 posts)Holding feet to the fire is one way to keep a bit of honesty in that godawful game of politics.
It's a must that we do it. Having been a champion of it has made Michael Moore the outstanding one to show us some truths in ways we can understand and hear them.
His work speaks for itself.

(53,661 posts)Because they immoralized their deeds for the history. He enlightened people around the world as to what we have been fighting here in the USA. Friends in Europe were distressed and contacted me after the saw SICKO.
I agree with Moore on most things, don't care for his focus being so narrow, but he has his place. He has changed things and stayed true to what he believes, as all of us do. His recent statement is sufficient for me:
Moore said despite his disappointment, he believes Obama has done some good things. And I cannot get it in my head to say the words President Romney.
Obama has a conscience. He knows the difference between right and wrong, Moore said. And Im hoping in a second term
hell be the Obama that we want him to be.

For Obama to be the man Moore wants him to be, it's up to us. He can't do it by himself, never claimed he could. It's about individuals making it happen nationally.
Let's get him the help he needs, get rid of obstructionists in Congress and GOP governors turning down Medicaid because it supports women's health, refusing disaster aid and stimulus money (in mixed amounts) and doing all they can to make America a living hell.
Moore said this yesterday:
Tomorrow, the bankers and corporate chiefs are planning an historic victory party. With the election of Mitt Romney, their takeover of American democracy would be complete.
They thought they had accomplished that four years ago when they backed Barack Obama (he received more money from Wall Street than McCain; Goldman Sachs was his No. 1 private contributor). And even though he never put a single one of them of any consequence in jail and never signed any bill that would truly stop their out-of-control greed; and even though he placed two of Wall Street's favorite operatives -- Timothy Geithner and Lawrence Summers -- in charge of the Treasury and economic policy; and even though he let them use bailout money -- our money -- to give themselves lavish bonuses after they wrecked our economy; and even though he didn't go for a single-payer health care system and made sure that under "Obamacare" no insurance company would be fined more than $100 a day for denying a person with a pre-existing condition (thus removing many of the teeth the new law had); and even though he let them keep their Bush tax cut for another four years -- yes, even after doing all of that for the wealthiest 1 percent, it still wasn't enough for them, so they decided to turn on him in a vicious way. They decided that they could literally buy an election and toss him to the curb. Why? Because he enacted a little "reform." Because he wants them to pay just a tiny bit more in taxes. Because, deep down, they know what we know deep down -- that Barack Obama, if given a second term, is going to put the brakes on them. They know that Barack Obama will appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn Citizens United. And they know that next time they crash our economy, some of them will, hopefully, be going to jail.
And they believe they can stop him tomorrow by having bamboozled enough of those "47 percent," those moochers, to vote for one of their own -- Mitt Romney. A man who, like them, believes big business should have no restraints. A man who pays next to nothing in taxes. A man who has destroyed the livings of thousands of working Americans. A man who hides his money in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands and won't show us what's on his tax returns for the past decade...
Trust me, if they succeed, we may never get it back.

(243 posts)I will be honest about my feelings towards him. I had never voted anything but Republican until 2008, 28 years. I hated Moore when I voted in 2004 for Bush, MY SCREWUP. I really look at him as one of the most upfront , outstanding people when it comes to those that have genuine concern for the American public.

(81,220 posts)It takes courage to make such a change - especially in a habit one has had for all one's life. It can be a tremendous internal upheaval when one realizes the old ideas and ways just don't hold any relevance anymore. We see a LOT of that here. We're so glad to have you! Glad you found your way here, and it's nice to see more Michael Moore appreciation! He's much maligned, and one of the true national treasures we have. The way he's championed his community in Flint MI, ESPECIALLY as it's had to endure financial ruin and abandonment by most of the powers that be, and given them a voice and a human face to the rest of the nation, I think, has earned him a ride up to Heaven when his time's up.
It will be an honor to share Election Night with you!
Thank you very much. I have enjoyed my experience on here so far. Do not know what has gotten into me. When I would vote Republican I really did not care about the outcome of the election. Now, I actually have to turn the TV to a different channel as I get so upset and nervous at the same time. I guess I am finally invested in my voting experience.
