Here in Alabama we have a law called e-verify or I-9 that you have to fill out to prove you are a citizen in order to obtain employment. The people i work with have absolutely no problem with that, in fact they are for it.....But Obamacare, no that is bad government intrusion. I will never understand why republicans are ok with certain government intrusion while condemning the gov't for that.

I had a discussion with my best friend Saturday night after the Bama game about undocumented workers. He is more a libertarian than anything. But he thinks they should not be here unless they pay taxes. I explained that it make better economic sense on the state level to keep them undocumented. My reasoning is that if they were required to file taxes many if not most of them would fall below the poverty line thus receiving money from the government. But if they were allowed to work in the state ala Texas, they pay sales tax which directly impacts the community in which they work or live. Conversation kinda ended there.

I am really trying to make the time go by as fast as possible so I can go home and watch the votes come in.

1. Undocumented workers do pay sales taxes and other taxes. Most probably dont make enough $$ to be

liable for federal income tax. They don't recieve medicare or SS so they shouldn't be expected to pay those taxes.

That's the irony; they DO pay federal income taxes. More than they should. And, because they are illegal, they do not file income tax returns, so they never get back those tax dollars paid in excess....

In the end, illegal immigrants pay more in taxes than they will ever receive in benefits.

Its more like they want to tag them like cattle or something. I mean I want everyone here to be a citizen but reality says that can't be. So, we should find a way to help people who have nothing regardless of whether or not they pay taxes.

If they are working under a fake (on edit.... or borrowed) social security number/ids they still have taxes taken out of their paychecks, and as a bonus they cannot file for a refund.

Its just we have this additional immigration law that sucks. I moved back here from Texas and truly miss the Mexicans.
