Navy retiree voting for Mitt - The irony would cut him if he weren't so thick.

“I think Romney will win,” Kent Avery, 57, told TPM. A retired Navy
engineer, Avery said he would blame Americans who don’t want to take
care of themselves if Romney loses. “When people understand they can
vote for politicians who can give them something from the public trough,
they’ll keep doing that. That’s a great danger that we have enough
people that have that mindset.”

I know so many (husband served USN) who retire at 20 with the same job in civilian form and earn 200K a year and then double dip on the civilian retirement and bitch about big government. I think teachers serve just as important a purpose and get the shaft.

he was in the military and a policeman all his life. he `s voting for mittens. so he`s voting against his own self interest and those of his children. if i did`t know him for 50 some years i would`t talk to him. we agree not to talk politics when we see each other.

If there was only some way for people to have to live with the choices their candidates make, win or lose, that would be quite an eye opener for so many. That guy would get quite a wake-up call when all of his benefits disappear and his taxes go up. Good luck with healthcare. His whole world would change.

Just for a bit. To make them see what they really voted for with their choice of candidate. To give them real incentive to work to discover what they are truly voting for BEFORE they vote and, possibly, help screw over the country. Facts would be demanded, not assumed. More people might think rather than vote blindly based on biases.

I know it's not at all possible in reality, but it would be so helpful.
