(45,274 posts)It will probly take them a while to figure out how to spend their untold wealth in more effective ways to sqay the election.
My bet is that they start filling the media a lot earlier after Tuesday--sorta staying in permanent campaign mode from now until the next election.

(5,255 posts)But I don't know. Will programmers, even corporate ones, be interested in political advertising even in the "offseason?" Also, unless the target is an incumbent certain to run, it won't work, so that limits things a bit. Then there's DVRs. Do that many people even watch commercials anymore?
Great, thought-provoking stuff. Although Citizens United is the usual Supreme Court outrage, I thought there might be a ceiling on its effect, and it looks like there may in fact have been.

(3,069 posts)they have no message. The GOP has painted itself into so many corners that it is like a bizarre variant of an Escher print. They can't say anything about anything without pissing off a segment of their supporters. Likewise they cannot grow their base without the same thing happening. Reach out to glbtq or women and the fundies go apeshit. Reach out to the hispanics/other minorities and the racists/nativist people freak out etc. It will be interesting to see how They deal with it.
