my first reply ('thanks for the link') was kinda snarky.

one thing that really bugs me is how pervasive facebook has become...you can't even leave comments on a lot of news websites unless you have a facebook account. I gave up on facebook when i was forced into their "timeline" type of facebook page- I really dislike that format.

I am disabled, and it allows me to keep up with friends and neighbors, and my community in whatever ways the people are using it. I get a feel for what's really on peoples minds and their politics, and it has been eye-opening, to say the least. I used it forcefully, early on, in a very public and heated debate with a tea party-er who was just as virulently adamant (and obtuse) in his ridiculous defense of his positions as was I in being a white male pro-Obama in my replies. I shot down, very publicly, the entire R party, each of their candidates, told him just how I saw the race going down, and bet him that we would hold the Senate, bet him that Mourcok beating Lugar (the day after, I might add) would be what helps us keep the Senate. I can't possibly recount just that one person, but I can tell you it has been going on since last fall. I predicted each and every thing that was gonna happen. I only just "unfriended" him, permanently, after I was sufficiently done with his stupidity. I wanted to first have that open, very public debate, for any who cared to "watch it while eating their popcorn" to see. I know, I could tell when a couple of people told me so. I can say that I was pretty much *spot-on* on the vast majority of it. I had facts. He had hate. And I exposed it. Did I lose a few? Yep. So what. I now know who they are. Sorry so long, just wanted to share why I still have FB. (With timeline. Timeline isn't as bad as it seems, but it has a ways to go).
