Dick Morris is not only a loon but...

It seems really crazy to listen to the rightwing world (aka-Dick Morris, et al) talk about how they think Romney is ahead in all the polls and not by just a little but way ahead. Couldn't fathom why they are so divorced from reality ( not that that is any surprise of course) and it dawned on me what they were up to.

First, and this is somewhat obvious. They are trying to energize their base with optimism. Nothing new there. Many people say that that can depress their vote though, if they think their guy is going to win- why bother to vote. In rightwing world that doesn't happen. They are obsessed with being on the "winning" side. Think of the "piling on" mentality, lemmings, or herds off a cliff. So it makes sense to drive false hope to this crowd. They are solidly into group think so this works to keep their numbers up at the polls.

Second, and this is probably the major reason. The RW talking heads know they are losing and if they drive up the expectations beyond all sense that their guy is winning then when he loses they all can scream- " Stolen Election" and increase the feelings on the RW side that they were cheated. The voter suppression efforts we have seen so far will pale in comparison to what they will start doing after this election. End result of that is an even more divided country and increased radicalism from the right. If you think that any Republican will work in comprise mode with Obama after the election then you are sadly mistaken. I think that the obstruction that we have seen is just going to increase 10 fold.

Someone should do a compilation of clips from him over the years.

Obstruction cannot increase ten fold because it is already at 100%. Bi partisan cooperation simply doesn't exist.

Faux news is the only outfit that will have anything to do with her, though.

while most people want to be on the winning side, Democrats/liberals will sit out a race when they do not support the candidate (witness 2010); whereas, gop/conservatives will still vote for a candidate they do not support (witness romney).

I was listening to beck, yesterday. He spent my entire drive home proclaiming the "the Democrats are going to steal the election and the DoJ is in on the theft." And listening to his listeners that called in, they're buying it.

I wonder if any sane gop candidate or office holder will look up and say, "Hey guys ... it's probably not a good idea to whip people, who are obsessed with conspiracy theories and dime-store redenditions of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson and who strongly believe in guns, but cannot accurately tell you a single thing that either candidate for president stands for, into a frenzy with claims of a stolen election, and whose point of origin is a class of pundits that get paid to whip those people up! Maybe we should say something?"
