(7,716 posts)for reelection, only succeeded in timing the jobs numbers just right before the election.
THAT is what's got them enraged. Repukes are bullies, always, and it gives me great pleasure to see them writhe and shriek in their own putrid . . . and that the good guy who plays fair will win in the end.

(63,893 posts)Because it's so easy to micromanage a leviathan like the U.S. economy! Obama must be really, really GOOD to be able to make it turn on a dime like that!

(23,973 posts)Right now it exceeds 100% a year for the major fleets; that mean they replace every single driver they have each year, on average.
Low pay, long hours, no home time.
You could do better on an hourly pay basis working a a shift manager at McDonald's than as a new hire working as a driver, and that is the truth.
The carriers are forced to recruit, non-stop, and with the economy turning up, they are trying to get ahead of the curve. The building trades are a big competition for trucking employees, as construction once again heats up and will pay better.

(281 posts)At least they are hiring not like 5 years ago when thier was a flood of companies going belly up

(23,973 posts)The pay in this industry is pitiful for company drivers, especially new hires, considering the profitability of some of the larger carriers.
