Storm aftermath from the Lehigh Valley in PA

Sandy knocked out our power, internet, AND cell phone service Monday night. As a matter of fact, the worst of the storm hit after I went to bed that night. Fortunately, I live on higher ground and was spared the flooding and trees crashing into my building, but I'm sure many weren't so lucky.

Tuesday, there were only 3 diners open in the entire areaŚ20 miles from my house; people were waiting in long lines which snaked halfway into the parking lots so they could have a hot meal and coffee, which was damn near impossible to find because of the massive outages. Only a few gas stations were open, so I saw lines reminiscent of those of 1974.

My power was out till last night; cell phone service was gone till this morning; and I still don't have internet (I'm using the mobile site now).

My cats are still stressed because the aftermath of Sandy disrupted their routine.

3. Hi! Also in Valley (upper Bucks)

PPL says no service til Sunday nite. We too are lucky, our tiny tree is fine & fairly minor basement flooding. Worst is cold & dark house! Will VOTE no matter what!!!

5. Every store is sold out of heaters, kero, and fuel cans

I picked up the last kerosene heater they had in stock IN THE ENTIRE AREA, but it's useless because every single store is sold out of kerosene cans.

I even checked online using mobile apps and even that didn't yield me anything. I was told it would be next week before they got anything in.
I'm still waiting for the internet to come back up. It stinks having to use the mobile version of DU.

4. Such major disruptions to our normal routines are very trying. Losing things we depend on for health

and a certain measure of happiness is very difficult. I wish you luck for a speedy resumption of all that Sandy snatched away.

7. That's where my family lives & where I grew up.

Bethlehem & Hellertown. I hope you get your power on soon. I know some of my family has power but no internet, phone, cable.
