OK, my daughter, is a little past college age. She was waving goodbye to me this morning in her oversized turtleneck sweater, ragged bell bottom jeans, sandals despite the chill and her handbag with the large peace symbol embroidered on the side. Got into her car that runs on a prayer and drove off to her crap job with me looking at the OBAMA 2012 and pro-choice sticker on the bumper. It gave me a surge of love and pride. It wasn't easy being a single parent. At 54, I could do without the nose piercing, the tattoo on her arm and the cigarettes...but I must have done something right.

They've grown up in a household where we talk politics but encourage the fine art of thinking. I love my boys dearly and I'm very proud of them.

(24,135 posts)And although he is voting, I hear a lot of whining from his male friends about Obama and how voting doesn't matter.
Yeah, unless you don't vote and you get the teabaggers.
I've had to slap a few of them around on FB

(916 posts)The oldest is 20 and voted for the first time--absentee. The younger one just turned 16 and watched all 4 debates with me. Two tall, skinny liberals added to the ranks!
My oldest looks like what you'd get if you ordered a hipster from central casting! He's in art school. The younger one has a garage band. And won't stop buying crappy guitars. Classics, both of 'em. Good eggs.
I know just how you feel, Kath1.

(9,854 posts)Who has two Obama stickers, a sticker that says, "If you want to try smaller government, move to Somalia.", another that says, "I am too poor to vote Republican." and a Darwin fish on his 1991 Honda Accord. He attends Clemson and is a member of Atheist club. We live in SC and he has had a tough row to hoe most of this life, but he is HIM and good with it.
Three sons, ages 23, 21 and 18. 23-year-old and 18-year-old are in the military. 21-year-old in college. All voting for Obama. Couldn't be prouder.
