Burger King tests out delivery
Burger King is testing delivery in a few Washington, D.C. area restaurants as part of a test that will include 16 restaurants by January 23.
The fast food chain, however, did not provide details on the timing of a national rollout.
Burger King already has successful delivery programs around the world, including in Mexico, Turkey, Brazil, Columbia and Peru, Burger King spokeswoman Kristin Hauser said in a statement.
Customers can order online or over the phone, and orders will include a $2 delivery fee. Order minimums vary by store, but will range from $8 to $10. Customers must be located within a 10 minute drive of the store.
Miami-based Burger King, owned by 3G Capital, is using new packing technology, including thermal bags, for the delivery test. The chain is not yet delivering breakfast items, or drinks like fountain sodas, coffees or shakes.

(70,023 posts)there are no bk's near me, wendy's is close but not close enough for me to want to hop in the car and go there when i am hungry. i don't eat at these joints often, but i would if it came to me.
and popeye's? DH and i would be fighting about that EVERY night.

(6,261 posts)What-a-Burger, a South-western chain, tried this in the 80s, but I don't think burgers and fries really lend themselves well to delivery, unlike pizza. When we tried it out, the fries would be soggy and the burger would have cooled significantly.
What-a-Burger is generally a cut above the national chains when it comes to freshness and quality with (optional) wheat buns. We always go at least once when we're in Arizona, New Mexico or Texas.
