Al Gore: Hurricane Sandy is a global-warming warning

<“We must heed this warning and act quickly to solve the climate crisis. Dirty energy makes dirty weather,” Gore said in a statement posted on his blog Tuesday afternoon.

“For me, the Nashville flood was a milestone,” he said. “For many, Hurricane Sandy may prove to be a similar event: a time when the climate crisis — which is often sequestered to the far reaches of our everyday awareness became a reality.”

Both natural disasters, Gore said, “were strengthened by the climate crisis.”

“Scientists tell us that by continually dumping 90 million tons of global warming pollution into the atmosphere every single day, we are altering the environment in which all storms develop. As the oceans and atmosphere continue to warm, storms are becoming more energetic and powerful. Hurricane Sandy, and the Nashville flood, were reminders of just that,” he said.>

To think how different things would have been if the Supreme Court hadn't appointed GWB. Gore would have been an amazing President.

Gore signing the "I love you" mantra as he was leaving when the Supreme Court had ruled.

It was a man with great anguish, who knew he had gotten royally screwed.

But he gets it right most of the time.

Still, the message is that we know, we fucking KNOW that the oceans are warming. The science of that is indisputable even by the idiots.

That is the lowest common denominator, so that is what I use to beat down the idiots and get them to at least STFU and get out of the way. Try it, it works.

People are hurting and need help. This is the last thing they want to hear.

Comes across as, "I told you so," when I'm sure he doesn't mean it in that way.

I love Gore, but his timing is off.

When there is a rampage shooting, we talk about gun control. Frankenstorm, we talk about climate change. It's important to make the connection. Burning coal, oil, and natural gas is putting carbon into the air and heating up the earth, making the weather change.

VP Gore had it right:

Hurricane Sandy is a disturbing sign of things to come. We must heed this warning and act quickly to solve the climate crisis. Dirty energy makes dirty weather.

He's right we need to act quickly. Climate change will already require major changes. If we extract the fossil fuels we are already planning on, things will be even worse. It's time to make the switch now.

PS: I was also happy to see Gov. Cuomo drawing the connection to climate change on ABC news tonight.
