Don't let out of town know nothing's downplay these floods. I have never seen flooding like this here. Same on some parts of Long Island. People are seeing water in places they've never seen it before. This is on top of the damage and many power outages. I saw something last night that said power was out for over 620,000 people on LI. I lost power and got it back 3 times last night. Others won't be so lucky.

We've heard about what can happen if we get a direct hit from a Cat 4 hurricane. Apparently we're more vulnerable than many thought.

Pic of the area she hunkered down in from the link: (wish the person who provided it had given his/her street location)... Oh well.

She lives in the East Village which, according to the evacuation map is a 'safe zone'. However, her apartment is partially below ground level. She was worried about water seepage (or worse), therefore chose to stay w/her boyfriend in Chelsea instead, since he's in a 2nd floor apartment.

His place is in 'Zone B' though, only a few blocks from the Hudson River.

Needless to say, she and I had a bit of a disagreement as to what the better overnight choice would be.

I last heard from her a little after 10pm. She said at the time that she was ok, but the power was out. Here's hoping that all is still well...
