See reply 38 below, about Facebook message from NY senator Marty Golden, who said FDNY responded to a "smoke condition" at the hospital.

1. The aftermath of these storms is always the worst.

The stories, tragedies and damage will add and spiral.

22. Not from there, but in my experience, they are in the basements due to weight and bolted down...

The entire area is without power, and some people refused to evacuate out of their basement apartments. So those people may not make it out alive.

I'm not sure about the validity of all these tweets, as some may not know what's going on. It's late at night and the emergency services are doing everything they can.

(being a Left Coaster I've no idea what that is) on CNN and he confirmed that the Cony Island Hospital IS on fire and rescue teams cannot get to them.

11. Twitter may not always be 100% accurate in times like these, but they are always

faster than the "news." The "news" get their leads from Twitter. Sadly, I think this one is accurate.

23. The generators at NYU Hospital failed also.

They are evacuating via stairs (!!). Over 200 patients - and over 30 ambulances queued up to move them.

What a mess.

But NYU and Bellevue are actually in big trouble and are being evacuated.

41. Sounds ok

I have been checking out some other live feeds and a few people have mentioned that they either live right nearby or they have friends that work in the hospital and it is not on fire. Apparently there was a fire outside but not in the hospital itself.
