New York is going to be a mess for a while.

Floods are wicked things. The stuff that's getting flushed around isn't pure water. It's sewage, oil and gas, toxics, and everything that's getting swept along, including whatever drowns (rats are remarkably good swimmers so theymight be mostly okay). Flooding knocks gas pipes loose and fires erupt which are hard to put out. The salt water will kill plants and trees, and drywall doesn't recover. Insurance companies seldom cover floods so people will find themselves living in houses that aren't very healthy to live in. Having it be nearly winter isn't going to make it any easier.

There's going to be the need for much labor and goods to effect repairs and much, much money. If it was left up to the state they'd never stand a chance. We need, and thank goodness we have, strong federal leadership and cooperation from all.

I don't think we will know for a long time what the ramifications are, but this girl is a great leveler and it would be good to set all aside to help that city and all the others that are suffering her wrath.

It's time to let America be America. United we stand.

and not some Republican. There will be lives and property literally saved snd salvaged because we have a Democrat as POTUS. Because no Democrat would have wanted to PRIVATIZE FEMA or put their horsey lawyer friend in charge of it.

5. NYC residents are resilient. I was there five months after 9/11. The city was already recovering.

The lower Manhattan site was a somber place, but life was recovering in all other parts of the city.

Reptilians will look for a way to make it partisan. I put absolutely nothing beyond them.

and I have a whole string of swear words for anyone that wants to stand in the way of funding to repair the wrath she brought (and will bring for days!) to us.

This is a time to band together and bring aid and the really sad part is that every politician will, for now. However, Nov 7th, 1/2 (hopefully less than) of Congress will be screaming for cuts to social programs to cover the damages.

Cantor will be leading that charge unless Powell can stomp him out of district 7 in VA.

I'm sorry you feel that way, however, American tax dollars are reserved for the military and the wealthy, not for you. Don't quote me on this, but I think it disgusting you want to raid the treasury for your own needs - that money is clearly there for our benefit, not yours. Jeesh. Mitt.
