(870 posts)we feel SO bad for the folks up there
you never get used to it, but
it's a nightmare every time.
I don't wish it on anyone,.
going through the storm is bad enough
but the aftermath is even worse.
no electricity - your food is going bad
no ice anywhere, no gas...
if you're prepared, you can handle it
if you've never been through it, it's not likely you are prepared.
i have a cousin in Philadelphia...
she said the store shelves were bare yesterday
she has ONE candle, and a Eucalyptus one at THAT
i told her we have DRAWERS full of candles
because we keep preparing over and over.

I feel for your cousin with that one candle, & eucalyptus is the absolute worst scent ever.
I wish everyone the absolute best in dealing with the storm. I know how depressing a situation it is all too well.

(14,615 posts)will not experience the blistering heat and humidity we usually have post-storm in Louisiana! That is the worst, choosing between opening the windows and being eaten alive by mosquitoes, or leaving them closed and slowly roasting while watching the mold accumulate inside your house. Ugghhh!
