Although to be fair that was to celebrate John McCain's birthday and at his age, who knows how many birthdays McCain has left. Being there was obviously important. It's not like anybody was dying as a result of hurricane Katrina. Oh wait.

And to be fair, given that once he finally did go, he made sure to tell Michael Brown what a heck of a job Brown was doing. I think the people of New Orleans had enough problems without adding the blithering idiot to the mix.

When FEMA starts helping people pick up the pieces as "the administration using federal resources to boost Obama's reelection chances."

Only my better angels are arguing against a response more like "let 'em drown."

regain his voice
and show how well he can handle a major occurrence...and perhaps remind people how "market-driven" republicans handle weather disasters...

...Katrina
...Chris Christie went to Disneyworld

He has surrogates to go to Colorado/Nevada/Wisconsin/Iowa/Ohio..

I hope the eastern states have ample supplies of paper ballots.. those electronic machines may have no electricity.

Perhaps voting for senate/house & president should be an all write-in affair on 5x7 note-card stock...and the local/state elections postponed.. There IS precedence for this (9/11/01 NY)

There is no reason why voters could not be checked in and told to just write their candidate names on the cards..and be in and out in under 5 minutes.. and those could easily be tallied at the precincts at the end of the day.

51. What the President should do during this storm is to
Sun Oct 28, 2012, 01:50 PM
Oct 2012

go on national TV every evening and give a report on what's happening with the storm and what FEMA and other agencies are doing. Take about 15 minutes each night and run down a list of federal agencies and their response to the storm.

"In New Hampshire today, flooding in some rural areas was severe. Our FEMA representative in that area reports that National Guard troops from New Hampshire were working very hard in the flooded areas to make sure stranded residents were safe, and the Coast Guard has been evacuating folks who are in danger. Moving on to New Jersey, we are working with Governor Christy to supply additional National Guard assistance from states not affected by the storm, and FEMA has already set up centers in the affected areas."

All of this with news footage running in the background.

Just a US President doing his job, you see.
