More Tigers In Captivity In US Than In The Wild Some In Private Hands -- No Decent Regulation

Last edited Sat Oct 27, 2012, 08:07 AM - Edit history (1)

There could be a tiger in your neighbor's back yard. There is no decent regulation of exotic animals nationwide. Texas is the leader in exotic animal like Tigers. These animals are raised for profit and exploitation. And animal sanctuaries are flooded with requests for unwanted animals that cannot be taken care of.

It takes over $7000 to feed a big cat like a tiger or lion. Senator Kerry has introduced an act that would control the ownership of such dangerous and expensive animals. Only licensed facilities could own dangerous exotic animals. In Texas some ranchers use such animals for hunting on private property who have private stocks of big cats they use for their hunting preserves

So in this libertarian world we are supposed to have no regulations by government. I am convinced we are nuts. According a National Geographic radio program host Floyd Matson we have a national problem with exotic animals.
