While national Republicans have done their best to shore up Indiana Senate nominee Richard Mourdock after his statements on rape, conception and Gods will, many Republicans in tight Senate races have backed away from Mourdocks comments, trying to keep the negative headlines that have followed Mourdocks statements out of their races.
But the Republican nominee for Senate in Ohio, Josh Mandel, has taken a very different approach. Hes given Mourdock a big ol bear hug. Ahead of Thursdays debate between Mandel and incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown, Democrats say they plan to make Mourdock a big topic on stage.
I would bet it will, Brown spokesperson Sadie Weiner told TPM when asked whether Mandels handling of Mourdock will come up in the debate. Mandel is unafraid to embrace Mourdock, despite the controversy surrounding him.
Listen, Ive gotten to know Richard [Mourdock] because were both state treasurers and were treasures in states next door to each other, Mandel told radio host Laura Ingraham Thursday. Hes a gentleman. Hes a class act. Hes a thoughtful guy. Hell make a great United States Senator.

Mitt must be seething. The last thing he needed was the ticket on the Ohio ballot just below his to go full tilt for the rapey guy.

(3,232 posts)know, claim that God actually speaks to them and therefore, they claim to know what God wants. These people need to be voted out of every position of power in American politics so that this madness (their religious views especially), cannot be legislated and forced upon the rest of us. This is all so sick I can't even believe it's happening.
