Log Cabin Republicans claim secret promise by Romney to support workplace equality

Source: Washington Blade

A meeting that took place at a Virginia farmhouse between officials from Log Cabin Republicans and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney included a discussion about workplace non-discrimination, but attendees who spoke to the Washington Blade wouldnít enumerate any commitments made by Romney.

R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabinís executive director, said workplace non-discrimination protections were the focus of the meeting, which took place Oct. 17 at Greenwood Farm in Leesburg, Va., which was a precursor the organizationís endorsement of the candidate announced on Tuesday.

... The Nationís Ben Adler reported that Romney secretly promised Log Cabin he would sign (the Employment Non-Discrimination Act), but doesnít want to make that position public for fear of upsetting the religious right. Nowhere in the current version of The Nationís piece does Cooper say he received a commitment on ENDA. In conversations with the Blade, Cooper insisted Romney never committed to signing any legislation.

Previously, the Washington Blade reported Log Cabin was seeking clarity on ENDA before making its endorsement decision. Romney supported the legislation as a U.S. Senate candidate in 1994, but in later years backed away from that support. The GOP nominee hasnít addressed the legislation over the course of the 2012 presidential campaign.

2. So what they are saying that Willard has no problem in making secret deals so

he can be president
How many other secret deals has he made??
How can anyone believe what Willard says??
How can anyone trust Willard when he hides his taxes, his Gov records, his Olympic records, and when flip-flops more than a nubile gymnast??

9. Think about it though: "Gay Republican" is basically synonymous for

"Complete Idiot."

So they probably really are that stupid.

and fire them! I suppose gay people all being unemployed could be a form of equality.

7. dear gay republicans, you are not going to get workplace equality because

there is no chance that the GOP will give women workplace equality
and they won't be able to get enough support for gay equality when they are ani-female equality

11. I suspect if we regain control of the Congress and when Pres is reelected

this will be passed. There's already a bill out there for this and I know HRC has been working with the Obama admin to get this going.

Can you just imagine how many secret meetings Romney has had and how many promises he has made to do just what each group wants. Romney is the religious right.

21. So let me get this straight (pun intended)?

You have a guy who supports total equality vs. a guy who will grudgingly give you workplace equality (assuming it isn't too much of a hassle).

And you fucking choose the rich white guy offering you crumbs if he can find a way to do it without pissing off his party?

Man. That is just so fucked up on so many levels, I don't know where to start.

I really can't imagine someone like Martin Luther King or Susan B. Anthony taking that kind of deal in their times.

22. Yippee

Workplace equality!!! How about just EQUALITY? Everywhere! Romney has to "secretly" even talk about workplace equality in 2012. The log cabin republicans are a disgrace. They are the Uncle Toms of the gay community. I can say that since I'm gay.
