2. I signed up a while back

In 2004, I went to Florida for Kerry/Edwards. I stayed in Texas in 2008 and 2010. Right now, I am running the voter protection operation for my county. We have True the Vote poll watchers at most of our early voting locations and I have my own poll watchers and poll greeters out monitoring their efforts.
This year, I have my hands full with the King Street Patriots and the True the Vote people and so I can not leave. We have a good chance of turning our county blue which will be good step towards turning the rest of Texas blue. The State party has designated my county as a target county and we are hoping to work out the procedures necessary to turn other similar counties blue. I really can not leave the state this year. The Obama Victory Counsel program is a good program. If you can leave and go to a swing state, you can make a difference. |

11. I am staying instate this election
|
In 2004, I went to Florida. Given what is going on in my county and the fact that we have True the Vote poll watchers trying to intimidate my voters, I am staying in Texas this cycle. I have exchanged e-mails with Will Crowley who runs this program and they understand why I need to stay in Texas.
If you can go out of state, it can help. I just got another e-mail asking me if I can go to Florida. Here is that e-mail Help Protect the Vote in Florida: 3 Days Left Before Early Voting Begins This is a great program and I urge people to participate. |

12. It sounds like Florida is the hotspot, again!
|
But not the only one. I guess the issue there is that it's a huge state. I'd go if I could. So happy that OFA has this going on, good luck!

Colorado and our Secretary of State has really screwed with voter registration. He's active with True The Vote and often is a speaker at their events. Rachel Maddow did a piece 2 nights ago about how bad Colorado could be this year - the new Florida. We've pulled up all the pertinent laws already and we're studying them.

14. I'm An Attorney In Ohio Thinking Of Helping
|
I did get a call about this about a week ago and have been kicking around the possibility. Can someone describe what I would actually be required to do? The person on the phone basically just said you go to a polling place from like 6:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night (or whenever the polls close), but didn't say what I'd be DOING while I'm there (or how my legal training would be an asset).
Can someone give me some details, because I really want to do my part to make sure that these A-holes don't steal Ohio again, but I'm a little bit concerned about what might be required of me. |

15. I think you should reply to people on the thread directly under their post - they might not check
|
back otherwise but several have had experience for instance the person from Texas. They just posted so I'd recommend writing them a DU mail directly or responding to their post. I think it would be worth calling OFA too, for SURE they need you.
Come to think of it in Politics 2012 there was a person working on legal in Ohio, she said there were already 2,000 incidents, they have made a call for legal people in Ohio according to the Texas poster. |

|
and are they having people poll watch already or are you on call? I read that there is training involved. If you're in Ohio someone is looking for information about the duties involved and wants to discuss it with someone.
