Obama Has Three Point Lead in Virginia, 49%-46%;
Three Point Lead for Kaine Over Allen, 47%-44%

A brand new NewsmaxZogby Poll shows President Barack Obama holding an ever-so-slight lead over GOP challenger Mitt Romney 49% to 46% among Virginia likely voters. The online poll of 827 likely voters was conducted Sunday (October 21) through Tuesday (October 23) and has a margin-of-sampling error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.

The joint venture between Florida-based publisher and New York State-based pollster will feature tracking polls in Ohio, Florida, Virginia and nationally right up to Election Day. All reported results include voters who have already voted and those voters initially undecided who indicated they are leaning toward a candidate.

In the first three-day tracking of Virginia voters, the President leads among Democrats (95%-3%), independents (47%-40%), Northern Virginia-DC suburbs (58%-32%), Richmond-Norfolk region (55%-41%), 18-29 year olds (58%-36%), 30-49 year olds (52%-43%), African Americans (92%-5%), the small sampling of Hispanics, liberals (95%-4%), Moderates (60%-35%), Catholics (64%-32%), women (51%-46%), and the Creative Class (54%-43%).

Governor Romney leads among Republicans (95%-4%), voters over 65 (58%-39%), conservatives (78%-18%), whites (60%-36%), evangelicals (58%-37%), married voters (54%-41%), and investors (54%-42%).

Meanwhile in the race for the U.S. Senate, Democrat Tim Kaine holds a very small lead over Republican George Allen. Kaine leads among Democrats (87%-5%), independents (46%-32%), 18-29 year olds (52%-34%) and 30-49 year olds (51%-41%), Northern Virginia - DC suburbs (59%-30%) and the Richmond-Norfolk region (51%-39%), liberals (92%-3%) and moderates (60%-28%), the small sampling of Hispanics, African Americans (87%-2%), Catholics (56%-33%), men (48%-43%), and the small sample of union members (57%-35%).

Allen leads among Republicans (92%-5%), 50-64 year olds (47%-42%), voters over 65 (51%-42%), the western region (54%-38%), conservatives (78%-14%), whites (57%-34%), evangelicals (56%-35%), married voters (51%-40%), and NASCAR fans (49%-45%).

Pollster John Zogby: The two presidential candidates are tied among men, Baby Boomers, and NASCAR fans. Both have some work to do to shore up their own bases - Obama with younger voters and Romney with evangelicals - and the 7 point Obama lead among independents can be erased very quickly."
