and it's coming from South to North - the south coast and parts of the North east coast are a mess already - sea durge everywhere and massive flooding and now the real wind has landed.

I'm dying to know the wind speed. We must be getting the 95mph gusts and we're far from the coast.

You know it's a hurricane when water is coming through the edges of windows in a fine spray, even when you've made sure they were sealed tight with caulk the week before.

Cat 1 storms are always hardest on trees. Bigger ones start to wreck buildings.

Power is back - 70% of the island lost power - it's 50% without power at 1.00pm Jamaica time.

One of their doors shattered and we did have to clean up some glass - leaves and branches everywhere but we drove across the city this morning with very few problems - trees and light poles down.

We're fine just trees and some glass from a neighbor's door.
We have water but no power. Should be back later today.

Issac hit us as a Category 1, but damn, it did alot of damage!

You had eve more water than we did because Sandy did pick up some speed which helped us big time

I know they were concerned about rapid intensification
with the waters so warm.

As you say, it'll be over pretty quickly.

Hurricanes of any Category are destructive and scary.

preparing for storms or recovering after them, we are pretty efficient and it was a Cat 1 so most roads are OK so the electricity folks are moving around with ease
