The Republicans ask: What the hell did he mean about "horses and bayonets"??
They say, Obama doesn't know what he's talking about....the military still has horses and bayonets??
But that is not what the President said. They are trying to create something out of thin air because they have nothing else... Dishonesty, they have their fair share. The President was responding to Romney's comment about the smallest Navy since 1916. Can you believe he actually said that? Or perhaps you disagree with him? That is when the President told Mr Romney that in those days we had a whole lot more "horses and bayonets". That was the context of his comments - not the bullshit that Sean Hannity and others are spewing out like green pea soup on a late October day. Furthermore, the President enlightened Mr Romney on some other facts about the Navy. We now have aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines that travel under water. Amazing, ain't it! Could someone break out the old turntable and find that Jethro Tull album, Living In The Past? These guys might enjoy it.

3. Here's Obama's quote ...
|
-snip- “I think Governor Romney maybe hasn’t spent enough time looking at how our military works. You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916,” Obama said. “Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military has changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have ships that go underwater; nuclear submarines.” Obama added: “And so the question is not a game of ‘Battleship’ where we’re counting ships. It’s: What are our capabilities?” -snip- |

8. Some were insisting the military "still uses bayonets"
|
Last night on Yahoo. Others were saying it was okay for Romney to agree with Obama's policies since some were okay. That's after months of saying we was destroying America's reputation abroad and should be impeached

10. Seriously? Are they really asking that?
|
"What the hell did he mean about 'horses and bayonets'?"
I can't look at mainstream media - did they ask that as a rhetorical question? Did they not get it? |

(1916) was an incredibly effective zinger.
Anyone who heard the original debate understood it. Fox is trying to destroy the impact of the zinger for the Fox audience. That's part of their evil propaganda war. Fox is out to destroy our country and our democracy. They falsify everything, even words that were broadcast live to millions of viewers on several TV networks. Fox cannot be trusted. Have your Fox-listening family members listen to that portion of Obama's speech and then discuss the Fox coverage with them. Maybe people will begin to think about the fact that Fox misrepresents the news over and over. |

12. Conservatives ~ how can they be so totally clueless?
|
Last edited Wed Oct 24, 2012, 03:11 AM USA/ET - Edit history (2) I'm actually genuinely embarrassed for them; imagine how it must feel to be so confused and frightened every minute of your life like conservatives are.
How absolutely dull do you have to be, to not understand what President Obama was implying when he referred to "horses and bayonets"? It's pitiful, and distressing when you realize that so many people (republicans) really are that stupid. It must be so very horrible to be a conservative, living your entire life like some poor deer caught in the headlights ~
never even having the slightest clue about what is really going on all around you for every moment of your entire earthly existence, and then, suddenly,...a speeding semi-truck turns you into just more roadkill. A pointless, completely joyless existence of nothing but reacting to circumstances, never genuinely experiencing empathy, or compassion, an existence solely dedicated to actively inflicting poverty, oppression, want, misery, and suffering, even death, everything dark and negative, upon all the nice, innocent, kind folks that live on the planet ~ and even our wonderful planet itself ~ only to end up as chow for possums and turkey buzzards. And all we can really do is hope that they will, at some point, understand that they really can evolve ~ and change. |
