I just got this email from my employer. My understanding is that the law requires employers to do this, though I could be wrong, but how many do?

Re: Upcoming election
Election Day is less than two weeks away. Predictions are for a good turnout, which means you may face long lines when you go to the polls, so please plan ahead.
As a University of Minnesota employee, you may take necessary time from work on Election Day, without penalty or reduction from your pay, to appear at your polling place, cast a ballot, and return to work. To ensure continuation of services, please communicate with your supervisor in advance about time you will take away from work.
If you have questions about where to vote, what to bring to the polls, or how to register on Election Day, visit the Universitys online Voter Guide. This website includes a link to the Secretary of States Polling Place Finder.
Please take advantage of these resources and be sure to vote on November 6.
