...About a Faux-watching neighbor and a talking point...
As I said the other day, Obama signs vanish in our neighborhood, yet the RMoney signs (and empty chairs) remain - which negates the most typical email response that went around - "it is just some kids playing pranks"...we went and reloaded on signs and the folks at the Dem sign location said that all over Wake County (NC), Obama signs are being stolen at a rapid rate...
but that's not my main point. Prompted by the sign situation and email, my faux-watching neighbor came over yesterday (she of the famous line "Bush wouldn't lie us into a war - he seems like such a nice family man"
....
I try to not get started on things with her, esp. when my wife is around (she knows how quickly it can escalate). So the neighbor said "I don't know why we have all of this contentiousness and polarization - there is so much we can all agree on - like we each have to work hard and be responsible for the things we get"......at which time I just said "but what happens if we work hard and due to circumstances beyond our control, need help?" - at that point my wife gave me a look and I had to go and finish what I was baking...
Yes, she is covert (sometimes overt) racist, brainwashed by Faux - and so completely believes what she believes in. She comes across as a nice, reasonable person. This is what the country is up against - at least just a teeny tiny example, anyway.
By the way - signs are replaced. Not sure if I am just going to take them in at night, or do the vaseline/cayenne pepper edge treatment...
