I just came from Poll Watcher training here in Jacksonville, FL and heard that the R$ and repuke watchers that have been approved by the Supervisor of Elections severely outnumber the Democratic Party and Obama poll watchers. They were preparing us for all kinds of dirty tricks to keep people away, delay the vote, and challenge individual's rights to vote.
Our ballot here is two full pages front a back (4 sides total) and is 17 inches long. It is said that it will take the average voter who does not come prepared with a pre-filled sample ballot or cheat sheet an average of 15 minutes to complete. The max time you can spend in the booth shading in the bubbles on the scan tron sheet is 5 minutes for each voter, but the Super. of Elections said they dont plan on enforcing that limit.
They cut early voting days down to 8 and combined several of the places into one location. We were advised that they want to slow the vote so the lines are huge and so that people will be discouraged and will go home without voting. The Super of Elections says that he does not expect to have final numbers on Election night until possibly 2AM (or later if there are problems).
There are scores of lawyers from both sides converging on key districts in Florida where they are afraid of a 2000 scenario all over again.
My advice to Concerned People is not to worry, but to be prepared and to help out the cause. If you really want to help, think about becoming a Poll Watcher and work the front lines in what might be a very crazy election. Eyes, ears, and common sense are needed now more than ever.
What state/issue has you bugged the most?

(1,663 posts)where President Obama is ahead by a large amount. My concern is complacency and that too many people here will think their vote doesn't matter.
This morning I called my son who is in grad school and again read him the riot act about voting . That is another place that needs a boost. College students are notoriously absent minded and disconnected with the outside word. Many are also confused about where and how they can vote.
