An observation on Romeny's "inaccuracies" and changing program/position on everything

This is not necessarily a big revelation, just something that I have been noticing and thinking about, and I will admit going in, that I am sleep deprived.

It is sort of like George Castanza's, "it's not a lie . . . if you believe it," but more compounded.

The Castanza Conundrum would apply in either of two scenarios

1. He does not really know the truth either because he is ignorant/stupid, or because he is so insulated that he doesn't know the facts

or

2. He has so convinced himself of his version - in contravention to all reality based logic - having bought in to the right wing dystopia
(the World Nut Dailey guy actually has press credentials to ride on Romney's plan - I wonder if he sits on the right wing - but that is neither here nor there)

Now this next part may give some of you apoplexy, but my reasoning has some basis in the bible. Let me digress:

I went to college at a Methodist College and though it was against my natural inclinations, I had to take 6 hours of religion. I ended up taking additional religion courses because I actually kind of liked it. It was taught in a non preachy sort of way. My first day in Old Testament, Dr. Reiff threw a bible on the floor. Well, I am digressing in my digression so I will move on....

One of the extra courses I took was on the Prophets - the early day prophets, if you will. One of the thing that distinquishes many of the prophets in the old T ( as opposed to low T) is the tradition in which they speak and their position vis a vis Yahweh. Isaiah, if memory serves, pronounced the word that God gave him to speak. Jerimiah, on the other hand, again if memory serves, actually spoke the word of God. He was not bringing the message that God had delivered to him to speak. God cut out the middle man, if you will, so that, when Jerimiah spoke it it became the truth of God. His speech is what made it happen. So, theoretically if Jerry had spoken some other thing, that thing would have been the truth. as opposed to what he actually said.

Now I suspect Romney's situation has to do with 4 things:

1. He is a nut

2. He is a rich as Croesus nut who feels that he is better than anybody else,

3. He is a psychopath

4. He is high up in the Mormon Cult.

So, 1 & 2,he does not really care, 3 he does not care and he is so evil that he wills that everybody believe him and

4 He is one of the Latter Day Saints or prophets , he beleives, in the tradition of Jeremiah so that everything he says is the truth by the very act of him saying it. So he can say anything and, he truly believes it to be the truth (the Castanza Conundrum again). "I don't know what I said, but whatever I said I stand by it = I don't know what I said, but I said it by God: it is, therefor, by its very nature the truth.

At any rate, it comes down to one thing: he is majorly fucked up.

Oh, and I apologize for any typos, but there is no way I am going back in there to clean them up - LOL

I had the "opportunity" to do some technical consulting work for the Mormon church a couple of years ago, and one of the things that was so intriguing to me was the degree to which the pronouncements of their senior clergy have the weight of doctrine. Romney is fairly senior Bishop in the Church. If he became President, it is likely he would also be named to the Quorum of the Twelve (think of it as the board of directors for the LDS), and would have a very real chance of being part of the High Presidency of the Church - most likely First President after he left office. It is arguable that for Romney, becoming 1st President may in fact be a higher (more significant) calling than being POTUS, but failure to achieve the one will preclude the other.

Consequently for both him and for his backers within the church, the ultimate goal will be to do what it takes to make Romney President - no matter how unethical it may appear to the rest of the world. The Church leadership (or at least some of them) sees Romney as their chance to exert policy over the US. However, like any large corporation (and it is a large corporation) there are factions on the BOD that think this is a bad idea, and that Romney is a flawed vessel. I think there is a considerably deeper game going on here than most people are aware of.

I think he and his family are of the mindset that the truth is whatever he says at the time. And therefor it changes according to his speak.

but the truth that people NEED TO HEAR to be saved.

The perfect training ground for the old flim-flam man has always been the pulpit of "XYZ" revival church, where they set people straight on God. You enter this line of business setting people straight on "Indian Joe's Cure-All Tonic", and gradually move on the setting people straight bigger and better snake oil, like LOW RISK sub-prime securitization strips, but on the way up the pinnacle of achievement is making it back on to the eternal stage where it all began, this time as the teacher not the student, ironically, setting people straight on how to get into heaven.

Anything that benefits the cult (whose #1 goal is the White House) justifies all lies.
