over the Benghazi question and Romney's blatant fabrications and politicization of the deaths of our diplomats, I knew right then and there it was all over.
That look could have bored holes through solid granite ten meters thick, and Romney the Smirking Asshole was visibly wilting under it.
Only a fool or an idiot who has lied to and bullied people his entire life and got away with it would think that could actually work with someone far more intelligent than he.

I agree with what was said above, "A thing of beauty". My daughter and I were cheering for our President just like my brother and his cohorts do at a football game. Hubby doesn't do politics unless it's to actually cast a vote. He relies on me for his info.

(33,688 posts)on DU, flat-out despises Willard. Like us, he can see that this spoiled brat, with all of his feelings of superiority and entitlement, should not be within 100 miles of the White House. He sees that Willard is an empty suit, a serial liar, and a tool who will do anything to plump his resume, including fluffing the most insane elements of his own party.
One can hardly blame the President for loathing this shitheel on sight.

(5,842 posts)Both talking-heads (perhaps Halperin and Fineman) said yesterday's debate made it obvious that neither candidate holds the other with any respect. It brought to mind the scene from the movie version of "Rob Roy" where the two high lords discuss the upcoming duel between Rob and Archie Cunningham and one says (Paraphrased) - "this duel has little to do with honor. I believe these men hate each other".
Next Monday's final debate should definitely be high intensity as I don't think Romney's done with Libya (since it's still seen as a failure of intelligence/leadership) by the Republicans.

(1,883 posts)But he carried more austhority than an actual punch. His eyes glowed with the fury and offense of millions of us standing behind our President. I'm really surprised that Mittens didn't say, "I'm so sorry I offended you and the American people" and then sit down on his barstool like he practised.

(7,768 posts)I saw him originally smirking and then stuttering when the Prez nailed him. He's not used to it, that's for sure. He's been a bully from an early age.
Just as he was the ring-leader in school gathering a gang to assault and cut the hair of a classmate. He's an asshole.

(53,410 posts)No wonder his face got so mean looking at the end. He's definitely used to doing the schooling with impunity, but being schooled? And in front of millions of Americans? That had to hurt.

(11,229 posts)Stupid fuck Mittens should have known better, but he's spent his entire life being entitled and catered to, so he did not realize he was getting into a street fight, carrying a 2" pen knife, against Obama who was packing two 44 magnums.

(1,330 posts)When Obama said "proceed, governor," the first time, that was a tip for any competitor - poker, chess, baseball, football - that "I've got your number." Romney is so tone-deaf, so programmed it didn't register. If you noticed him raise his eyebrows at President Obama - that brought the second, "please, proceed" - that gesture is from a superior to an inferior, the "parent" or "boss" catching the employee in a lie. It's a challenge back - "you think you've got this covered? You realize who you're messing with?" That eye-brow raise is a play from arrogance and/or authority - or a confusion of the two.

(916 posts)he has literally NEVER encountered this response before. He is 60 some odd (and I do mean odd) years old and this is probably the FIRST time he has not been the alpha male in the room. . . . Or, more to the point, he always THOUGHT he was the alpha male.
So when the President said bring it on, Mitt didn't get the signal. It didn't even occur to him that he was about to get served. How could he recognize it? He's never been in that position before.
He really isn't regular people.

(4,302 posts)He simply owned Romney. Chided him like he was scolding a child. Delivered a knockout punch and did it with streamlined power and grace. I was absolutely floored by that few minutes... and watching Romney's perfectly still, seated silhouette suddenly stripped of all it's arrogant petulance.
It was a thing of beauty! I was SO proud of him and of my country after that moment.
