I am sad to hear of Arlen Specter's passing.

For all of his faults, there was no greater champion in the Senate for the NIH and medical research.

He was my Senator for many years, and for many of those years was my only pro-choice Senator (and we did also have a Democrat).

Rest in peace, sir.

Specter was the architect of foisting that knucklehead upon us. But he was better than most Republicans, especially towards the end.

I don't fly it every day. Some days are different. We had it at half-mast in his honor.

The CHIEF architect of the Single Bullet Theory was the Warren Commission's ambitious junior counsel, Arlen Specter, who would later become a U.S. senator.

and in fact, the JFK obsession and worship has gotten to be ridiculous.

But what people "remember" are the times here in Philadelphia when he fought to try to keep many government offices open that were due to close. I.e., he would be considered one of the epitome of "pork barrel" Senators, but the city he lived in appreciated it.
