So I went and had my flu shot today.

They wanted me to sign a form that puts all my medical history into some kind of electronic something or other. I asked if I HAD to give consent. The woman looked at me like I had two heads. She didn't have an answer for me so she asked someone more knowledgeable. No, I don't have to give permission. Good, I said, I don't want to. The two of them put their heads together and I hear one say to the other, "there's always a couple" . Yep, that's me, a die hard rebel. Or am I a conspiracy theorist?

1. Well, you might be...

Isn't the move to put all medical records into an electronic system part of streamlining things? That way information can be shared between medical professionals more accutately and more easily. I'm just sayin'.

and there is no charge if you don't have insurance, which I don't. My doctors office wanted me to do the same thing but I said no to them too. My problem is that I don't trust that insurance companies would not be given access to the information.

3. Was this at your Doc's office?

I know my doc has transformed everything to electronic records.

For my flu shot though I just walked into the fire hall. Signed a form saying I knew the risks and got the shot. No ID, no questions no charge.

5. I love that.

I like to go when they it to seniors.

It's all pretty funny - so many seem to know each other.

4. one of my docs has a patient portal

and you can email questions, set up appts, get your test results, request med refills...other than being sort of invasive in the visit, I'm liking the computer system.
